Day 2 of the Co-Designing a Survivor-Centred Human Rights & Kito Response System for Lagos State

Day 2 focused on building practical skills for responding to Kito cases. Participants engaged in paralegal exercises on how to safely handle Kito cases, support survivors, document incidents, and make appropriate referrals to relevant services.

Through practical scenarios and collaborative discussions, we strengthened our understanding of survivor-centred response pathways and how to ensure survivors receive the right support at every stage.

Another day of learning, collaboration, and co-creation toward a stronger response system for Lagos State.

Recap of Day 1 of the Co-Designing a Survivor-Centred Human Rights & Kito Response System for Lagos State Workshop

Today, participants explored the Kito survivor journey, mapped gaps in existing response systems, and began co-designing a more survivor-centred pathway for reporting, safety, documentation, support, referral, and follow-up.

The sessions brought together diverse perspectives to strengthen the development of a State Response Framework, Human Rights Violation Reporting Tool, and Para-Legal First Aid Toolkit for Lagos State.

A productive first day of learning, reflection, and co-creation.

Which method do you use to prevent HIV? 👀

Condoms? PrEP? Both?

There’s more than one way to protect yourself from HIV. The important thing is knowing your options and choosing what works for you.

And remember: condoms also help protect against other STIs and unintended pregnancy, while PrEP is specifically for HIV prevention.

Know your options. Make informed choices. 🫶🏽

YOU TRY TO TAKE YOUR LIFE AND IT FAILS… YOU ARE GOING TO JAIL.

Sounds shocking, right?

But this has been the reality of Nigeria’s laws around attempted suicide. There is now movement toward decriminalising attempted suicide, but the proposed change still has to go through the legislative process.

And no, we are NOT saying you should wait for the law to change.

We are saying: please seek help.

If you’re struggling, talk to someone you trust. Reach out to a mental-health professional or visit a healthcare facility.

And if you need support, you can reach out to RHRI too.

You don’t have to face a difficult moment alone.

Don’t wait. Reach out.❤️

We asked. He answered.

Welcome to Queer Check-In 🏳️‍🌈 where we ask queer men the questions we’re curious about and let them tell us what they really think.

For our first check-in, we asked:

“Is the queer community actually supportive, or do we just say it is?”

His answer came with a story.

Swipe to read it.

And then tell us through the link in bio

what has your experience been?

Community safety starts with knowing which areas are safer and which are risky. Ask questions, understand your environment and update your plan as situations change. Awareness helps you stay prepared, not afraid.

On Day 7 of 16 days of Activism, it reminds us that;
When we protect women and girls, we protect progress.
When we open doors for them, we open doors for society.
Let’s build communities and digital spaces where every woman can rise.

Together, we say:
No more violence.
No more silence.
No more barriers.
