“This SEND reform is to help every child achieve their full potential?”
I disagree, it's not. It feels more like a reform designed to save money and make the statistics look better, rather than genuinely improve children’s outcomes.

If this were truly about helping children thrive, we would be seeingmore specialist placements and more therapeutic provision being built to meet children’s needs.

Instead, we’re seeing add-on hubs within mainstream schools. These hubs absolutely have their place, but they are not the answer for every child. And even the children who could benefit from a hub are not guaranteed a place.

What happens to everyone else? Too many children are left struggling in mainstream classrooms of 30 pupils, in environments that simply cannot meet their individual needs.

Inclusion should never mean forcing children into settings where they cannot access the education, support or environment they need.

And if the Government is so confident that these reforms will improve outcomes, why are children’s legal rights and protections being put at risk?

SEND reform is desperately needed. Families are exhausted, children are being failed, and the current system is not working. But reform must mean better support, more specialist provision, earlier intervention and legally protected rights, not simply reshuffling children into a system that is already stretched beyond capacity.

Our children are not statistics. Their futures are not a cost-saving exercise. And their potential cannot be unlocked by removing the support and rights they depend on.

SEND reform is needed. But it must put children first ....not budgets.

4 DAYS. ONE DREAM. ❤️

Three days of rehearsals. One day of tech and shows. And just look what we created. 🥹

Yesterday, Big Man Little Man came to life on the stage of The Other Palace, and what an incredible journey it has been.

From a blank page to a stage. From an idea to something real. Four days of hard work, passion, laughter, tears and a team who gave everything.

And yesterday, we finally got to share it with you.

To everyone who came, supported us and believed in this story, THANK YOU. ❤️

Because boys break too.

And this is only the beginning. ✨

🥺🥂😭♥️Tonight’s performance of Big Man. Little Man. was an absolute joy to be in the room for.

As someone who works in both theatre and SEND education, tonight felt almost surreal in its familiarity. The entire team has been incredible, and I genuinely cannot express just how authentic and astonishingly accurate @moses_azadeh ‘s portrayal was. I recognised so much of the young people I teach in his performance, from the smallest mannerisms to the complexities of their everyday experiences.

Both actors were absolutely outstanding, with the portrayal of the teacher ( @jamesdavidcrouch ) equally brilliant and beautifully observed. There were moments that felt almost uncomfortably familiar, in the very best theatrical sense.

A wonderful, moving and incredibly truthful piece of theatre. Huge congratulations to everyone involved, and a heartfelt thank you to the entire team for letting me be a small part of something so special.

And if there were ever any doubt about how deeply this show connected with its audience, this video captures the instant standing ovation it received tonight. Thoroughly deserved!

Today. ❤️

After all the writing.
All the rewriting.
The workshops.
The conversations.
The casting.
The rehearsals.
And all the people who have helped get us here.

Today, BIG MAN. LITTLE MAN takes to the stage at The Other Palace.

A story that started with one young person asking why people like him weren’t seen on stage is about to meet its audience.

Twice.

I’m not entirely sure I’ve got the words for what that feels like yet.

So for now…

Let’s do this.

📍 The Other Palace
⏰ 4pm & 8pm
🎟️ 8pm SOLD OUT

It started with a script.

Words on a page. An idea that had been written, rewritten, developed, pulled apart and put back together more times than I can probably count.

Now we’re about to do the bit I’ve been waiting for.

Take it into a rehearsal room.

For the first time, this version of BIG MAN. LITTLE MAN belongs not just to the page, but to the company bringing Tony and Matt’s story to life.

And just a few days later, we hand it over to an audience at The Other Palace.

What does it mean to be a big man?

To be strong?
To stay quiet?
To cope?
To never let anyone see when things are falling apart?

BIG MAN. LITTLE MAN looks at the expectations we place on boys and young men, and what can happen when asking for help feels harder than pretending everything is fine.

On 15 October, we bring that story to The Other Palace.

8pm is sold out.
4pm tickets are available now.

🎟️ Book now. Be there.
