POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The next chapter has begun – Impact Red – Proof of Concept

This story is based on my experience in Berlin after I came back from the Central American jungle, where I lived and worked with people from the Ketchi and Mopan Maya communities when I was 30.

The screenplay itself made it into the UK Film Festival London and the Beverly Hills Film Festival without me having any connections.

Over the years, people have supported and joined the project because of what they felt while reading the screenplay.

Now it’s coming alive - it’s unbelievable to me.

Thanks to my people who have joined this journey.

What a treat to work with you!

Earth Momma is taking #landback.
What did you expect when there’s too few humans living in coexistence with nature?

Extract, much?

Now our more than human marine relatives are suffering and washing up on shores, dead. Why is your life more valuable and worthy than the dolphins, the fish or the seabirds who are that cycle of life? Humans broke the sacred hoop…. Collect your performative tears, if you must, you may need to drink those when there’s no more water.

If only you had listened to Indigenous People.
If only white non profit enviro- programs hired Indigenous Leadership.

If only the LA City & LA County invested with a meaningful budget to support a real Climate Emergency Mobilization Department and if only the City had not a created a perfunctory Climate Emergency Office that downgraded lives and infrastructure….yes, a Climate Emergency OFFICE.

If only NCs created a network of Environmental Committees to work together…. If only.

Thank you @harris__silver for your contribution of truth and heart filled logic. You’re truly an ally.

You’re Gonna want to swipe ⬅️ on this one!

Did you Know, in the state of California alone 5.4 million tons of plastic go into California landfills each year.
To put that into perspective:

* 5.4 million tons = about 10.8 billion pounds of plastic annually.
* That’s roughly 277 pounds of plastic landfilled per Californian every year.

And much of that contributes to a bigger problem that’s been plaguing our Oceans.
An estimated 33 Billion tons of plastic trash enter our ocean every year. That’s two full garbage trucks every minute!

Now add to that the volume of non recyclable manufacturing waste generated by our favorite fantastic plastic machine- the #surfboard and we just aren’t doing our planet ANY favors.

Approximately 5–8 million pounds (2,300–3,600 metric tonnes) of surfboard manufacturing waste are generated in the United States each year.

I launched the Zero Waste initiative 9-10 years ago to create a solution for upcycling surfboard production waste, we have now paired that with The ReUp Our Ocean Project to create a serious solution to OUR plastic Pollution Problem.
-
For the first time ever we are launching a fun #giveaway contest to celebrate scaling up this rad program.
-
We will have multiple winners and it’s free!
We are gifting multiple winners a rad goodie box of our #sustainable and upcycled products made from surfboard manufacturing waste and ocean plastic trash.
Here’s how to enter:

I’ve been making surfboards for a living for the past 25 years.
Along the way I’ve done several impactful firsts in the industry….but what I revealed today is my legacy and I hope the most impactful.
-
I’ve been developing the ReUp Our Ocean Project for the past two years.
It kickstarted with a solid El Niño winter, record rainfall and me getting extremely pissed off after seeing soooooo much plastic trash in the water at my local surf spot.
-
I’ve been quietly developing a pretty big solution for our massive plastic pollution problem and that is The ReUp Our Ocean project.
-
Today marks a massive milestone.
We are launching with two fins.
A standard 7” MidLength Fin and a classic Twin fin Keel set (FCS2 base).
So what’s the big deal?
As of today you can pre-order them at a discount and get your hands on an earlier set or single fin before they hit shops.
-
These are the best surfboard fins for the planet.
Why? How?
Because they literally are being made out of plastic trash collected out of our Oceans, off of Our Beaches and plastic recyclables that don’t actually get recycled.
How many straws, water bottle lids, take out containers and other plastic trash go into each fin?!!! An average of 50-75 pieces.
-
This is my legacy and I hope this ground breaking project and product makes an impact. (Tagged in this reel)
