✨ We had an amazing time performing Kinder at ŻiguŻajg Festival in Malta in November! We couldn’t be happier with how the shows went - what a great team! Here are some highlights from our adventure, (for the full story, head to the Kinder Malta highlight on our profile.) Thank you to every audience member and supporter who joined us, and to all the cast and creatives on the show, as well as the amazing festival team. It was so special to share our story of a Jewish girl’s journey across war time Europe even further afield. Thank you to the Festival organisers, Fondazzjoni Kreattività, Spazju Kreattiv, Arts Council Malta, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, and the Cultural Heritage Directorate. @ziguzajg ❤️ Stay tuned for what’s next at Smoking Apples✨ Video description: quick 1 second snaps from touring Kinder to Malta, including the journey there, the set build, beautiful Malta, and the team. #InclusiveTheatre #AccessibleArts #PuppetryMagic SmokingApplesTheatre Puppets PuppetsOfInstagram puppet theatre Kinder TheatreArts theatre arts NeurodivergentTheatre puppetry MaltaTheatre Malta

🤍 Kinder, Malta 2025 ❤️ Last week I returned from the first of hopefully many stints of international work. Such a joy and honour to have been in Malta for the 15th ŻiguŻajg Festival as well as my 5th year with Smoking Apples! An incredibly humbling experience seeing and hearing the impact of our special show with our generous European audiences. And a lovely couple of days off to explore the island with our loved ones. Thank you to the @smokingapplestheatre & @ziguzajg teams and to Malta! Can’t wait to visit again soon ❤️

The first, on a low lit set, Ida, a masked character is half-wearing a coat on one shoulder. She warmly leans her face onto the shoulder of the coat, holding the coat sleeve in her hand. On the back wall appears a shadow of two people facing each other and holding hands. The second, on a cream set, Ralph, a masked character is sitting on an armchair, leaning back and away from a cat puppet who is perched on their lap. Another performer is leaning over the chair, operating the puppet. Ralph holds one hand up in shock, the other holds a metal cigarette box. Text reads ‘Get Your Tickets. 22 Oct, 7:30pm at EM Forster Theatre, Tonbridge. 28-29 Oct, 7:45pm at BEAM, Hertford. 4-7 Nov, 7:30pm at Quarterhouse, Folkestone.’ ID2: On a brightly coloured set, Jaanvi, a masked character wearing a purple head scarf, is looking out toward the audience. They are holding a metal dish close to their face and in their other hand they hold the metal lid. A quote reads ‘”We ran lots of community workshops with older adults and this was really eye-opening. The joy and life was brimming, they were lovely spaces to be a part of, so a lot of this is reflected in the show. Ida, Jaanvi and Ralph are not biographical but more of an amalgamation of things we’ve encountered along the way.” - beyondthecurtain.co.uk’ #SmokingApples #ThreeTheShow #Puppetry #TheatreUK #FamilyStory #TeaTime #PuppetryTheatre #MaskTheatre #ShadowPlay #Intergenerational #LiveTheatre #TheatrePhotography #FamilyTheatre #ArtsCouncilEngland
