In this conversation, Program Coordinator BrandElsa Pereira shares how Rainbow Labs (@rainbow_labs ) #has foster belonging for LGBTQ+ youth and offers advice for creating communities where everyone can thrive.

Pride doesn’t end in June. The work of building inclusive spaces continues every day. 🌈

Here with @rainbow_labs for a two part workshop teaching kids how to become community organizers :) In part one, we studied an article from @liberationedu about formulating slogans. In part two, the students explored how they want to express themselves and what they could possibly say that would move the masses.

Overall this was an great experience but I have to say that even in an environment where self expression is foundational and encouraged… some of the kids struggled to find the words, so it was really great to see themselves get across the finish line line <3

As part of this program, these students are organizing a summit where they will continue their advocacy for Trans and Queer safety across all LAUSD schools. If you’re interested in reading the article we studied, it’s linked in my bio.

If you’re interested in more online political literature, visit @liberationedu If you’re looking for books or similar community activities visit @midnightbooksla in Arts District.

tysm @rainbow_labs and @hausofelevation for having me!

On 11/9/25, I attended @sgvlgbtq’s Pride & Power Garden Gala to support their silent auction. I donated one of me art pieces to the center, & it SOLD! 🎉🎉🎉 Thank you fellow artist @aybleazul for purchasing my art!

I was also glad to be there to support @leoxihuang as he deejayed the event. 🔊🎧🔊🎤🔊

I also appreciate the @sgvlgbtq because they allowed me to showcase my #griefart at their center earlier this year. 🥰

The Violet Visionary Awards by Rainbow Labs was ENERGETIC, AMAZING & STUNNING. Rainbow Labs emboldens Queer and Gender Nonconforming Youth to discover, curate, and experiment with the elements of a fulfilled life through community building and the lived experiences of femmetors/mentors.
❣️⭐️✨
Powered by @SGVLGBTQ & @Rainbow_Labs the SGV Youth Action Coalition advocates for the expansion of safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth across LA County—including schools, community centers, parks and other public places. The SGV presents a mixed picture when it comes to being safe and supportive for Queer & Trans (LGBTQIA2S+) youth.
