Hayley Potter's Making Space featured in my 'Making Spaces Dorset' series. Hayley is a mixed medium artist working as (but not limited to) an illustrator, author and ceramist ⚱️ I loved hearing about Hayley's perspective of nature as a source of healing strength. One of the biggest influences on her work is the stories of our land, the nature that surrounds us and people's connection to their land. How delighted we both were when we found a treetop table for Hayley's inks and materials! 🌏 She also uses eco-concious workflows including an eco-kiln, glazes and materials that could digest back into the earth when they have finished their life cycle. To see more of her work you can visit her page and website @hayley_potter_studio To watch our interview and see the rest of this series head to my website (link in bio 🔗)

Step into the magical world of @hayley_potter_studio , a British artist whose hand-built ceramics and illustrations celebrate folklore, the natural world, and the stories that connect us to place. From her studio on the South West coast of England, Hayley weaves myth, memory, and the everyday magic of nature into each piece - inviting us to look closer at the plants and animals around us, and fall in love with their wild beauty. Trained at the Royal College of Art and influenced by visionaries like Quentin Blake, Kiki Smith, and Beatrix Potter, Hayley’s work explores storytelling, symbolism, and our cultural connection to the land. Through her art, Hayley reminds us: we protect what we love. We are currently showing a collection of Hayley’s pieces in the gallery.

Today, on International Artists day, I am thinking about the community of remarkable artists who have touched (even changed) my life - and not just through their art. It is daunting to step out into the world as an artist and share your creations with the wider world but, since I cautiously raised my head above the parapet two years ago, I’ve been blown away by the support and kindness shown to me by the many artists I’ve been lucky enough to meet - both in person and online. There are too many to mention individually here (so thank you to ALL of you I’ve met and chatted to along the way) but I want to give a special mention to these women pictured above whose words and spirit have nourished and inspired me as much as their work. THANK you for all that you special artists have so generously given to me - and the far wider, creative community. #internationalartistday #Dorsetartist
