One year ago I found this magical little being in the bushes of our hotel just outside of Detroit, seemingly abandoned. It was 2 hours before load in. The amount of chance and fate that collided leading to this moment, changing mine and @hayleyey ‘s lives forever truly blows my mind.

@wearescientists @zenomakesmusic @seanmcverry and I skipped lunch to try to find a safe shelter for her but when we couldn’t, we brought her with us to @themagicbagmi the night’s venue. We played the show, all the while thinking about this adorable critter trotting around the backstage.

After persuading my landlord to let me bring her home Brooklyn, we loaded her into the van and brought her with us on the rest of the tour into Canada, Buffalo and then all the way back to New York City where she is now the queen of St James Place. She arrived at home on Hayley’s birthday (I’d told her just two weeks previous that the universe was going to gift her something special on her bday and I would bring it home for her). We named her Mona and she will never have to worry about being safe, fed, secure and cozy ever again. She’s grown so much in the past year (we call her Big Mama now!), and she’s made me and Hayley grow along with her. She charms everyone she meets and I can’t thank the universe enough for bringing us together. Finding Mona, celebrating one year with her is an amazing reminder for me to always keep my ears and heart open.

My debut solo album “Magenta Light” is out today. I’ve been playing music basically my whole life (slide 2) and somehow it has taken me 40 years to release something completely my own. That said, I am forever thankful to the collaborators and supporters who helped me see this vision through. And damn does it feel good. Some moments from my time in Paris with the @lairarts residency.

I spent a few weeks participating in the artist cultural program L’AiR Arts, alongside the Cité Falguière Association, supporting a cultural heritage project to preserve the last remaining artist studio, Atelier 11, at the historic Cité Falguière.

Many artist tours, studio visits, and inspiring conversations across the city. In between, I worked on small color studies from time spent at the @jardindesplantesdeparis , and of course continued my study of orchids in the shifting Paris light.

It felt especially meaningful to work and share an open studio in a space with so much history, once home to artists like Amedeo Modigliani, Tsuguharu Foujita, Alberto Giacometti, Chaïm Soutine, and Constantin Brâncuși.

🌈 What a year! So thankful for: community, to be included in some beautiful exhibitions, my students and colleagues and clients, to call London home again for a while, friends old and new, the constant natural beauty that is upstate living, and for accomplishing some big goals this year. 💛 My health still has my world upside down at times, but onwards and upwards. 🌿

Ps. 2025 has been a tough one for the art world (and the world in general), so an extra shout out to those still out here making art, to those still buying art, to those still curating interesting exhibitions, and to those who have supported my work this year. Eternally grateful for all of you! 🫶

My sweet girl and first wife, Lady passed over the rainbow bridge on Monday. She wasn’t my dog but at times it felt like she was. You can see in the 4th photo just how happy we were to see one another. My best friends @mallory.markman and @alexmarkman generously shared her with me and we would hang all the time. I felt so privileged to be one of the people she trusted so deeply. She was even the main character in a beautiful Communipaw music video from 2019 (shot by @al.markman). Rest in power my sweet sweet ladybug.
