“Some of the people we love most can’t be in the family photos, but they’ll always be part of the story.”
Today our children received the beautiful gift of Baptism. Our hearts are full of gratitude, joy, and love.

At the same time, there is an empty place that was meant for some special people, Sean, Uncle Ed, and Gammy. They are always missed. My brother was supposed to stand beside our oldest daughter as her godfather, and not having him here is a reminder of how deeply he is missed and how they are all missed.

We know they were with us in spirit today, watching over these precious moments. We will make sure our children know who he was, how much he loved them, and how much he is loved by all of us.

A day filled with faith, grace, and a little bit of heaven. Thank you to our amazing Godparent’s, you guys really nailed it and we are so grateful to you guys 🤍

Some family fun time photos this last month. INCLUDING seeing my amazing sis as Shug Avery in “The Color Purple”!!! She did such a stellar job as well as Veronica as Celie and the rest of the cast!…. And then I got sick for the rest of the month 😭

It’s taken me a minute to digest.

September 4th, 2025.
Getting ready in my bathroom.
My best friend visiting from Florida.
My 40th birthday.

Perched on my stool my phone pinged. I so clearly remember looking down, squinting, and then shrieking.
I read the script once, twice, and then I wept.

Somehow, Wild Strawberries landed in my lap that day, of all days. This year, of all years. (If you know, you know.)

Wild Strawberries is the true story of a family living through one of life’s greatest tragedies. There are no frills, no fancy costumes, no special effects. There is love, hearts cracked open by love. The sweetness of the story is assumed only by those who have never bore witness to the deep sadness that is Alzheimer’s, that is caregiving, that is a family undone.

Nora, this is the play we all need. These are the stories we yearn to see, to share, to spread. The family’s heartbreak laced with humor and grace. I am beyond honored. Thank you 🍓♥️

Thank you Jean for opening your doors and your heart, for bringing laughter, tears and snacks every time we spoke. 🍓
Thank you Haley for being my big sister, keeping me on my toes and always being quick to smile. 🍓
Thank you Alex for trusting all of us with this piece. Thank you for seeing Natalie within me. I am … without words. ♥️🍓♥️

The night has come.
The land is dark.
The moon is the only light I’ve seen.

And I woke this morning alone, afraid, terrified, riddled with guilt, a deeply depressing light blinking a reply to a question I never knew existed.

Nelly wouldn’t get out of bed, sick and more tired than I’ve ever been.
I cried. And I cried.
And I considered staying there, in that frozen position of overwhelm. But through my tears, at 6:35 am, exactly ten minutes after waking to that tidal wave of grief.

A light blinked my eyes open .. Again.

A notification from a friend. A relatively new friend. The gift of food, dropped at my front door before the sun had even risen, before her work, driven from the beach to the valley.

A drive by hand delivery. This even lifted Nellys chemo riddled body from sleep, running to the door to stick her big head in the cooler. Joy. Pure joy.

If you know, you know. Drive by deliveries, paper plates, voice notes, ribbons made from green and gold, moments of silence, these are the greatest gifts in times like these.

Because of this friend, I remembered The Month Of October.

I remembered that there will always be people who can’t or don’t or won’t … but that doesn’t change or minimize those that can. Those that do. Those that will.

Today, I am grateful for those that do. Those who text when they get home, who FaceTime from my favorite spot under the Brooklyn bridge, who take a chance by handing and sharing a stage and a story with us. Those friends who transport us to different timelines where they’ve had a daughter and you get to meet her for the first time.

I am grateful for those friends who continue to remind me that The Fall is often the greatest gift from life. Without her, we’d never even know this other side of life. We’d never know hope.

The fact that we are now seven days in November, the night comes early, the stars they shine, and the holidays are almost upon us, and still, we are here.

Thank you Casey (& Carter & Callie) for your big hearts.
Thank you Jill for believing in a future when I so often can’t, won’t, don’t.
Thank you Maggie for continuing to show up for you.

From mine to yours ♥️💕♥️💕
