Today, crowds are gathering in Coupvray, France to celebrate the ‘Bicentennial of Braille’.    200 years ago, a man named Louis Braille created a new way for the blind to read and write. Meet the Founder @hazal.baybasin After losing my sight in 2019, I quickly discovered how inaccessible the world can be. Especially for blind and visually impaired people and specifically within the beauty industry. The beauty industry already feels intimidating for many sighted customers. But as a blind woman, I suddenly found myself excluded from a world I’d once felt at home in. Products I’d used and loved for years became impossible to distinguish. Skincare routines that once brought me joy now brought extreme stress and frustration. That frustration became fuel and in 2022, I launched Blind Beauty. A skincare brand built with accessibility at its core. Designed to be inclusive for blind and visually impaired people, but suitable for everyone. Because beauty should never be out of reach. BLIND BEAUTY Meet @hazal.baybasin, a model, entrepreneur and beauty influencer based in London. She created Blind Beauty after losing her sight in 2019 and realising how inaccessible the beauty industry was for people with low vision. She felt completely excluded and wanted to change that. Blind Beauty is all about creating skincare that’s inclusive and designed with the blind and visually impaired community in mind — including both braille and a QR code on the products to make information more accessible. It is also a platform to raise awareness on blindness and challenge the way the beauty industry thinks about disability.
