We will welcome Dr. Maureen O’Connell to the hilltop for her lecture, "Synodality: Walking Together from Hope to Holiness," which will tell the story of the Church’s synodal journey to date. O'Connell will highlight the ways that communities of teaching and learning, like the one at St. Edward’s, are animating this ongoing process of collective conversion. She will show how becoming a listening, dialogical, and communally discerning Church offers tangible experiences of hope in the midst of threats to the common good right. Finally, she will invite the St. Edward’s community to discern how we might grow in holiness through our own participation in local, national, and global efforts to walk together as the People of God.

Lecture: 5-6pm
Reception 6-7pm

Thank you for joining our 2026 Annual Retreat! What a meaningful day of prayer, reflection, and community as we gathered for “Let Hope Be the Anchor That Holds: Christian Hope in Action.”

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at Holy Cross College, as well as our incredible presenters for sharing their wisdom, faith, and personal witness to Christian hope. Your generosity and commitment made this retreat a truly inspiring experience.

We are especially grateful to Sister Andrea Lee, IHM, Ph.D., and all of the members of the Holy Cross community who helped bring this day to life through their talks and reflections.

Missed a session or want to revisit your favorite presentation? The full retreat recordings are now available on YouTube! Watch and share them with your family, friends, and community: link in bio!

May the hope we celebrated together continue to strengthen our faith, inspire our service, and anchor us in Christ each day.

Everything is bigger in Texas, including our Holy Cross family!

This summer, members of our 2026 Student Council traveled to St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, joining students from Holy Cross schools across the country for an unforgettable leadership experience.

Throughout the week, they collaborated with fellow student leaders, shared what makes Holy Cross School unique, exchanged ideas to strengthen each of our schools, and built friendships rooted in our shared Holy Cross mission. They also explored the Texas State Capitol, participated in leadership workshops, spent time in prayer and reflection, traded school shirts with students from across the country, visited the grave sites of the Holy Cross Brothers who helped build and shape our school as we know it, and made memories that will last a lifetime.

They return to New Orleans inspired, recharged, and ready to help make this school year the best one yet!

25 years ago I was hired by Holy Cross School to create the Drama Department in the middle & high school. I taught Justin Phares in 7th grade & high school. He wrote me this poem when I left after his sophomore year. Today, I got to visit with him & his lovely wife. Now he’s MY hero!! Life is beautiful! Love you, brother! 💙💛💙💛💙💛💙

NEWS // Being a Holy Cross institution is a foundational pillar of St. Edward’s University’s identity. Founded by Rev. Edward Sorin in 1885, the university has seen several university presidents who were reverends and four who were Brothers of Holy Cross — some of the most impactful presidents and whom several buildings are named after. St. Edward’s used to have brothers present on campus, who lived at St. Joseph Hall since it was built in the mid 1960s. Although St. Joseph Hall was recently demolished, the legacy of the brothers and the Holy Cross mission remain alive.

Holy Cross Brother Larry Atkinson, is one of the brothers who lived in the old St. Joseph Hall. He grew up very close to the Catholic Church and knew that he wanted to continue to be involved once he graduated high school. When looking for the next steps, he found the Holy Cross Order and joined as a brother directly after. After training in New York, Brother Larry was assigned as a student to St. Edward’s University.
