3 Chicago shows left this month that I would love for you to check out! It's been quite a historic summer for too many reasons and being able to share in this collective expression has never felt more important. The world has been feeling like shit, but these shows have been magic so come through and engage with your (our) community. what the fuck else is there to do?? I'm on the road for rest of the month, but would love for you to see all these bands!

FRIDAY // 8•14•26

@solidaritystu

Formed in Chicago in 2013 by partners Josh Condon and Eliza Weber, Glyders make maximal Minimal Rock & Roll with nocturnal mystery pulsing in the mix, cutting above rigorous roadhouse fare with sounds that twist and grind on their classic inspirations. Glyders’ high lonesome way is mellow but nervy, hip-shaking and deep – a multicolored trip to the ongoing beat of American weirdness. Their second LP 'Forever' is out now on Drag City. (8:00)

Let’s roll! Roll whatever you got, if you got ‘em! If you dig the Rock and Roll, you’ll enjoy yer stint with Prison.
Straight outta Rockaway Beach, Queens, New York City, USA, THE WORLD, Prison is a jammin' state of mind, a band, an experience and a loose collective of psychedelic dudes from various ‘no fixed addresses’ across the multiverse of Rock. They’ve been active since 2015, but if you didn’t catch ‘em live in NYC, you wouldn’t know – until the summer of 2023, when 'Upstate' dropped. THEN you knew! Prison's long and varied jams broke out across the country and into the world. The second official Prison stint 'Downstate' followed at the start of 2025, reaching into insane new places. A third bite of the apple is on the horizon with the July 2026 release of 'Big Rigs On The BQE'.
A multi-headed beast, Prison’s core members - of Sarim Al-Rawi, Matt Lilly and Paul Major - fuck with an ever-expanding satellite of players, including Mike Donovan, Mike Fellows, Matt Leibowitz, Marc Razo, Adam Reich, Ryan Sawyer and Dave Smoota Smith appearing on the their first three records. That’s just so far, but that’s how it’s gotta be! Leap-hogging from one vibe to the next, Prison cop a variety of grooves, a far-ranging scrum of Groundhogs/Velvets/Hampton’s/Pink Fairies/Magic Band/Stooges/Good Rats/No Trend/Can propositions powering guitars, bass, drums and organ. It feels like they’re coming from everywhere!
Special mention must be made of charter member Sam Jayne, a fellow lifer whose passage into the eternal in 2020 has left them with a spirit guide for the rest of the @prisonjams stint.
Prison’s guitar, bass and drums compel them to dream LOUD for everyone. That means they’re up for the road, their improvised rock and roll tapestry rambling through shows around the country, with gas ‘n guitar pedal on down to the metal! (8:00)

Also finally winding down a bit and getting some edits out. Including a couple shots I got from a show I went to while visiting Chicago. I'm just happy it lined up to see a band from across the country, while visiting a town in the middle of said country. Killer music and killer show.

It also introduced me to two other bands that I have been thoroughly enjoying lately. Big shout out to @jason.r.shapiro @headddd_ and @tvtvstar for a great night with awesome music!

Also if you're in Chicago and want to see some good, local shows check out @hideoutchicago . Great venue and great people
