POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Independent magazines are timeless. Most, if not all, don’t follow the seasonal themes that a lot of the mainstream titles do. It’s not about what’s ‘in’ for September or what’s on trend this season. It’s about human stories & inspiration that’s relevant whether you read it now or in two years time.

This edition of 91 Magazine published nearly 18 months ago, but I still get inspired by the beautiful photography & writing each time I pick it up!

The theme for this issue was DETAIL, and I still have print copies left of it. So if you are in need of something lovely to flick through (a break from the screen!) then you’ll find it over on our website. 😘 Independent magazine, interiors magazine, interior inspiration, independent business, small business, analogue activity, print magazine

A summer update featuring some new work role news! 🌞

I am super excited to be starting a 15-month FTC at @hellohubbub covering maternity leave in August! I’m working 4 days a week, leaving a day for freelance work, keeping my toe firmly dipped in that freelance pool.

The update also features freelance projects I’ve been doing for @larkdesignstudio @editbrandstudio @stockstaylorbenson @theliminalspace @better_studio @thedistrict

There’s also a big holiday to Berlin, a big @designfestbrum, and plenty of BIG scoops of ice cream.

WHAT A VIBE 🤩

@designfestbrum, as always, you were everything we could have hoped for and more. Our first time attending as speakers was nerve-wracking, but so rewarding.

Shoutout to the whole BDF team and amazing army of volunteers that make the show run so smoothly.

Shoutout to everyone we met and the @bcu_graphics students that showed us round the grad show - you should all be so proud!

Shoutout to our wonderful host, @laurenjcreates and favourite headless human @headlessgreg.

And finally, shoutout to every single person who turned up to see our talk and gave us lovely feedback afterwards (even if you were lying).

A big thanks to everyone who has made PICNIC what it is over the last few years, we are super proud of our Illustration community here in Brum and love seeing all your faces at our events. A shout out to @davebainuk for his continual support and in particular, help with getting the meet-up started and the @theaoi for our guidance. A big thank you to our generous and regular venue @pan_pan_______ as well. Here’s to more years and more meet-ups!

Our next meet-up is in conjunction with @designfestbrum and will be in June, date and details coming very soon 👀

This time 2 years ago… March 2024 . Was my last hurrah at Moseley Road Baths — and in Birmingham as a whole. What a way to close a chapter.

I had the absolute joy of co-directing the, sold out shows of, Saving Moseley Road Baths alongside the brilliant Adaya Henry from Women & Theatre, with a script by the legendary Janice Connolly.
There is even a podcast about the whole story, play and reason to why this was important to make.
You can find this on the Women and Theatre website https://womenandtheatre.co.uk/project/the-saving-of-moseley-road-baths/

I’m still so proud of what we created — a powerful, heartfelt show brought together by a huge, community cast. It really was something special and an honour to close this chapter of my life. Not forgetting the pigeons of MRB taking centre stage 🤣😂😅.

Thank you, Birmingham. Thank you Moseley Road Baths. Thank you Women & Theatre. And thank you to every single person who was part of that journey. ❤️

I love you and I miss you Balsall Heath, Birmingham. What an unforgettable chapter of my life.

Happy calendar new year everyone! ✨❤️

I’ve been resting deeply this midwinter after a whirlwind season of working, festivities and celebrating my 30th birthday on the Winter Solstice 💫

I had the most magical weekend celebrating with loved ones at a beautiful loch-side farmhouse in the hills of Highland Perthshire ❤️

There was a magical tea-party with homemade cake, mystical outfits, a beautiful tablescape, ceilidh dancing, exploring castle ruins & stone circles, skimming stones & rejuvenating eternal youth by the loch, a fire ceremony, waterfalls and lots of soaking up nature. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to open a new decade of life 🌱💫

Hoping for lots more art and love and adventure in 2026 & the same for you too ❤️

Lots of love, Elyssia xxx

So as well as our PLACES books being back in print, I also have Volume 19 available in print again! 😲

To clear some space for new things, I have reduced the price on these & if you fancy gifting a copy this Christmas there is the option to buy 2 copies (one for you, one for a friend!) for even less per copy!

It’s a gorgeous edition featuring the likes of @designvintageuk @mapetiteviejolie @loutonkin @theottohouse @thehandworkedshop @cotton_clara @thismustbetheplace.glasgow and many more! Beautiful interiors, inspiring stories of creativity. Independent interiors magazine 91 Magazine featuring beautiful homes and stories of creative living from small business owners, makers, designers & shopkeepers.

FAREWELL! This week has been all about our final issue. Prepping for its arrival, then packing hundreds of orders and getting them out.

For those of you who pre-ordered, it should arrive with you in next few days, I’d LOVE to hear what you think. Even though it’s our last one, it still means so much to me that our readers enjoy every page.

If you haven’t ordered yet, you’ll be pleased to know our printers found some extra copies which they sent over to me today, so it’s available again on the website, but it’s literally a handful of copies. Be quick!

Our digital edition is now available and our fabulous stockists will have them in store from next week.

I’ve felt quite strange today, as the dust settles from getting all those orders out, it’s sinking in that it’s our last one! I just need to get used to it, and start focusing on what’s next! I’ll be sharing more on this in the coming weeks - stay tuned!

And THANK YOU for coming along on this journey with me, it’s been an honour & a privilege to create this magazine for you. ❤️

HEADS UP! I’m taking a break at the end of this week so my last dispatch date for print magazine orders is Thursday - so if you’d like a copy of Volume 19 for reading over summer, then pls order by 2pm Thurs 7th Aug.

You’ll still be able to place orders on the website (we have loads of digital back issues, e-books, e-zines & workshops you can download) but print orders won’t be dispatched again until 27th Aug.

We are off to do some exploring across Europe so I likely won’t be posting here much either, but I’ll be sharing what we are up to over on @carolinerowlandeditor & my new account @carolinerowland_creative - maybe see you over there! 🥰
