About a week ago we attended the 51st Annual National Convention for @scdaa ! This was the first in person conference they hosted since COVID and they didn't skip a beat! It was great reconnecting with old acquaintances and connecting with new advocates, warriors, and allies! We had the privilege of attending back in 2018 and 2019 and knew we couldn't miss #scdaa23! It was an educational and enlightening 4 days packed with insightful presentation that truly showed how far we have come over the years in terms of support and advancements in curative therapies for sickle cell disease! The theme this year was Community with an emphasis on UNITY, and that is the word that truly sums up the experience at #SCDAA23. Looking forward to staying connected as we all work together to shine a light on sickle cell!

Join us for TRAIT SPACE NOW
🧠💚 Tonight: Your Safe Place Awaits

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and tonight’s TRAIT SPACE: Your Safe Place is all about having the real, raw conversations we need in our community.

As warrior Genesis so powerfully reminds us:

“Living in constant pain takes a toll—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Some days are harder than others, but the weight is real. Healing isn't just physical. It's mental, emotional, and spiritual too. And it's time we talk about it.”

Join us NOW for a meaningful dialogue on breaking the stigma around therapy, especially in Black communities. We'll be joined by two courageous voices from the I BELIEVE IN THERAPY campaign: Heather Avant & Elle Cole.

🩸 Whether you’re living with sickle cell, loving someone who is, or working in healthcare—your mental health matters.

🗓 NOW — Tuesday, May 20, 2025
🕘 [Insert Time if needed]

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we’re proud to stand with the I Believe in Therapy Campaign!

Mental health is just as important as physical health—especially for our sickle cell warriors, who fight silent battles every day. Let’s break the stigma, speak up, and prioritize healing inside and out.

Because your mind matters too. 💬💪🏾

Happy New Year! 🥳 How do I begin to describe the year 2019? Some words might be Amazing, Eventful, and a Blessing. I have met so many wonderful people by being an advocate for Sickle Cell Disease, and Be the Match. Sharing my story is one of my favorite ways to help others. I struggled with having more pain this year to now knowing that I will be leaving for my transplant to be CURED. There are no words to express how much I’m looking forward to the year 2020. This last decade was great to me, but this one is going to change my life! #happynewyear2020 #topnine #sicklecelldisease #sicklecellwarrior #bethematch #endofdecade #newchapter #icantwait

I had the honor of partnering with Be the Match to host an event for Sickle cell awareness month. This event allowed for people to share their stories and provide opportunities to join and support the registry. Thanks, Be the Match for this opportunity, and those who continue to help support me. @bethematch @thekimalexander @heath_avant @kindle__reece #sicklecellawarenessmonth #sicklecelldisease #sickelcellwarrior #sicklecell #sicklecellmatters #bethematch #bethematchregistry

Recently I went to The 6th Annual Sickle Cell Symposium. I’m so glad that I was able to attend and speak at this event. I met so many amazing sickle cell warriors, learned more about different organizations, and sickle cell in other areas of the world. I’m excited about continuing to be involved with the sickle cell community and can’t wait until next year! Thank you, Be the Match and Dr. Bailey for making my experience at the event more than I could ask for! #sicklecellwarrior💪#bethematch #sicklecellawareness #warriorsaroundtheworld🌎
