This Mini has been one of my favorite cars among the dozens Heather and I have owned, so we just couldn't bring ourselves to sell or trade it when we got the new Mercedes. Since then, Heather has happily claimed the Mini as her daily.
After updating the hood stripes and sunroof to the black Union Jack graphics, I'm finally getting around to the long-planned trim blackout. 🖤
First up: black headlight and taillight trim, along with new black Union Jack taillights. Next up are the beltline trim, door handles and front grille.
And I love the new black devil decals Heather picked for the back. 😈🖤
Chrome is dead. The blackout continues

I turned 53 last week, and I've been thinking a lot about just how much can change in three months.

A little over three months ago, I decided I needed to start taking better care of myself. Nothing extreme. No heroic workouts. Mostly beginner stuff, baby steps, and trying to keep showing up.

Since then I've lost more than 37 pounds and, maybe more importantly, I've gone from barely exercising to putting in several hours every week. Lately that has even included getting outside around 5 a.m. for jog/walks and getting to watch the world wake up along the way.

I'm still very much a beginner. I have a long way to go. But I'm pretty damn proud of the direction I'm headed.

I also couldn't have done it without my amazing, loving, ridiculously patient—and crazy fit—wife. ❤️ Somehow I lucked into having a wife and a personal coach wrapped into one person. She's encouraged me, taught me, pushed me when I needed it, and put up with a lot along the way.

And apparently some of this is working. I may have turned 53, but WHOOP currently puts my age nearly 5 years younger. That's nowhere near my wife's completely ridiculous WHOOP age of about 12 years younger 😂, but I'll take it.

The 37 pounds feels great. The numbers feel great. But I think what I'm most proud of is simply learning to show up for myself consistently.

Still learning. Still improving. Still taking baby steps.

And definitely not done yet. ❤️

Small PR on my half hour power zone ride this morning. Wasn’t really sure I was gonna get it in. I’ve had a case of the bubble guts since late last night and woke up to my cat puking all over my bedroom about 2 AM and have been up more or less ever since. So not optimal conditions. But you don’t always get to do things under optima conditions. . The hard part is staying committed and staying on track. 151 straight days on the bike now and don’t see it stopping anytime soon short of something calamitous. So get out there today and do something that helps you move towards the goal of being a better version of yourself. It will benefit you and everyone that you love and care about.
