Different goals. Same room.

Some are here to get stronger. Some are training for competition. Some just want to move better, feel better, and stay consistent.

Different ages. Different backgrounds. Different reasons for showing up.

But when we’re here, we’re all doing the same thing. Putting in the work.

That’s what makes a good training environment.

You don’t need a bigger gym. You need a better environment.

A place where people know your name.
Where people notice when you’re gone.
Where getting stronger is the priority.
Where nobody cares what you lift, as long as you’re putting in the work.

No crowds. No gimmicks. No getting lost in a sea of memberships.

Just good people who train hard, support each other, and keep showing up.

That’s what a gym should feel like.

Train hard. Learn something. Laugh a little. Don’t take yourself too seriously.

Keep showing up and enjoy the people you get to share the mats with. 🤙

Why You Should Lift Odd Objects

Barbells and dumbbells are great because they’re balanced and predictable. Real life and sport usually aren’t.

Sandbags, stones, kegs, heavy medicine balls and other odd objects force you to produce strength when the load isn’t perfectly positioned.

That matters because odd object training:

• Builds usable strength-you have to brace, stabilize and create force from awkward positions.
• Trains the trunk differently-the load shifts, forcing your core to resist rotation, flexion and extension.
• Develops grip & upper-back strength-you can’t rely on a perfectly shaped handle.
• Improves positional strength-picking something up, carrying it and loading it exposes ranges a barbell may not.
• Builds work capacity-carries, shouldering and loading give you strength and conditioning at the same time.
• Transfers to sport & life-opponents, kids, furniture and heavy bags don’t have evenly distributed weight.

You don’t need to replace traditional strength training with odd objects.

They’re another tool in the toolbox.

Get strong with the basics. Then learn how to apply that strength when things aren’t perfectly balanced.

5 Reasons Why Porrada Barbell Is Different

We’re not trying to be another commercial gym. Porrada Barbell was built around quality coaching, individualized training, and an environment where people can actually get better.

1. Private Training Facility
No packed weight rooms. No waiting around for equipment. No unnecessary distractions. Porrada Barbell is a private facility designed for people who want to come in, train with purpose, and get quality work done.

2. High-Level Coaching
Coach Drew has been coaching athletes and general fitness clients since 2006, with personal competitive experience in bodybuilding, powerlifting, and strongman. As a current Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, he understands that no single training style is “the best.” Every method is a tool, and programming should reflect the individual, their goals, and what their body needs.

3. Personalized Programming
You’re not handed the same workout as everyone else. Training is built around your goals, experience, abilities, limitations, and lifestyle. Whether the goal is getting stronger, moving better, improving athletic performance, or simply being more capable in everyday life, the program should fit the person.

4. All Backgrounds Are Welcome
You don’t have to be an athlete, powerlifter, bodybuilder, or experienced lifter to train here. We work with youth athletes, competitive athletes, combat sport practitioners, busy adults, beginners, and people who simply want to become stronger and healthier.

5. A Supportive Community
We train hard, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. No egos. No toxic gym culture. Just a group of people from different backgrounds showing up, putting in work, and supporting each other along the way.

Different goals. Different backgrounds. Different starting points.
One standard: purposeful training.
