❤️✂️❤️ Such a pleasure editing this beautiful film for @hectorgannet, celebrating Newcastle United @nufc , the people, the communities, and the incredible passion that runs through the Northeast. Shot across 16mm and digital, including footage captured at 1,000 fps, this was a very special project to be part of. 🖤🤍

Choosing just 20 frames to post from this film was almost impossible. Every image felt like it deserved its own moment.

A huge thank you to @chris_bloodfilms for the opportunity and for trusting me with such a personal film, and to @thequarryedit for making this our first project together. Hopefully the first of many.

Sunday brought another day of new music, creative conversations and Northern talent across Mercury Fringe.

At @thegrovenewcastle, Mini Mercury x First Gigs put the next generation centre stage, with @shipyardrejects.band, Martha & The Magpies and @evieferro.music getting the chance to experience every part of a professional live show, from soundcheck to performing in front of an audience.

Over at @polestarstudios, Hector Gannet, producer and engineer @blamiremusic, and Grammy Award-winning mix engineer @eduardodelapaz_ opened up the process behind The Great Shakedown, taking a deep dive into songwriting, recording, production and what it takes to bring an album to life.

And at @zerox_newcastle, @lizziesau, @cortneydixon and @loujamz came together for a showcase celebrating the breadth of emerging talent coming out of the North East.

Three events, three different ways to get involved in the region’s music scene. Get involved at generator.org.uk/mercuryprizefringe

It's been a hectic and fun couple of months but it's amazing to finally be able to reveal what we've been up to. It's an honour to have worked on this new version of 'The Blaydon Races' with @hectorgannet . We put our soul into it, kept it authentic, true to it's roots, and delivered something which we're immensely proud of.

It wouldn't have been possible without all of the people behind the scenes:-
Hector Gannet: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
Alex Blamire: Pipe Organ, Backing Vocals
@jackcoe96 : Drums
@oldtomsrant : Northumbrian Smallpipes
@emmarobsonmusic : Backing Vocals
@samshields_ : Backing Vocals

Produced by Alex Blamire & Aaron James Duff
Engineered by Alex Blamire, Polestar Studios.
Mixed by @eduardodelapaz_ Tostada Studios.

🔉Newcastle fans - you’ll want to turn your sound on for this…

The lights. The history. The @worflags display… A few days after NUFC announce a new version of the iconic anthem, the Blaydon Races, @hectorgannet play it to a sold out St James’ Park for the very first time ahead of Newcastle United v Aston Villa in the Premier League.

It’s slower. It’s more atmospheric. And it works well in the stadium - especially with an absolutely belting light show at St James’.

What do you think Newcastle United fans? Does it work? Is it better than the old version? Let me know in the comments below 👇

“I can think of my Granda singing it, my dad singing it. Now I’m singing it, and I can think of my son singing it in years to come. And that’s a really special, powerful thing.”

Ahead of his live performance of the Blaydon Races at St. James’ Park tomorrow, @hectorgannet and producer @blamiremusic tell us what it means to them 🖤🤍
