Caregivers cannot get out of the house to get the support they need if they don't feel safe leaving their loved one. By listening to countless care partners, we have a proven history of creating resources to meet these urgent needs. And we keep evolving and improving those resources with care partner feedback, so they stay relevant in a changing world.

Care partners have always been at the heart of our work. We began as an organization by listening deeply to this community and working to fill the gaps you told us about. Really seeing and hearing you—and acting on your feedback—continues to be the central focus of our mission.

Thanks to @heldlight_ & @shakinginmyboots1 for this meaningful conversation with our Deputy CEO, Rebecca Korduner. Listen to the full episode on Spotify or YouTube.

You don't need a perfect self-care routine. You need a five-minute reset and something outside your front door. That is enough to come back in as a slightly better version of yourself.

Brent talked about this and so much more on this week's episode. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/-6nnO9lBuC8?si=mkezVzlw7PIV9mTU

Taking a break is not abandoning someone you love. It is making sure you are still standing when they need you most. Those are not in conflict.

Brent walks through exactly how respite works in his situation — and the guilt that came with it — on this week's episode: https://youtu.be/-6nnO9lBuC8?si=mkezVzlw7PIV9mTU

If you are in the dark right now, look for the tiny light at your feet. It is almost certainly being held by someone who can see you struggling even if you haven't said a word.

Brent told the full story on this week's episode. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/-6nnO9lBuC8?si=mkezVzlw7PIV9mTU

You don't have to be okay. You don't have to be grateful today. You just have to keep going. That is enough.

Brent from HeldLight built an entire platform around saying the unsanitized version. We talked about why on this week's episode. Watch here: https://youtu.be/-6nnO9lBuC8?si=QARkgw9onRZz1kYX

If you have ever had a thought like that and buried it — you are not a monster. You are a human being carrying something most people will never understand.

Brent from HeldLight said it out loud on this week's episode and explained what came after: https://youtu.be/-6nnO9lBuC8?si=QARkgw9onRZz1kYX

Good caregivers still get angry.
They still become resentful.
They still need to walk away sometimes.
They still have thoughts they are ashamed of.
Being a good caregiver does not mean being endlessly patient.
It means being human and getting support when you need it.

Brent @heldlight_ , a 20+ year caregiver for his wife, tells it like it is. Listen to our full conversation on YouTube: https://youtu.be/-6nnO9lBuC8?si=8UUZGYFMx97gsmlN

Advice for a family facing a progressive diagnosis:
Make memories now.
Communicate early.
Include the children.
Ask for help before the crisis.
Start therapy early.
Do not wait until everyone is already breaking.
