💙 SOMETIMES WE FORGET JUST HOW HARD IT IS… 💙

Sometimes it’s assumed that a swim must be easy because the swimmer is fast because they have an impressive swim CV because they’ve done it all before.

But that’s simply not the case.

Behind every big swim there is still the anticipation.
The self-doubt.The nerves.The preparation.
The endless training.The effort.
And then, when you finally get in… the hard work begins. 💪🏊‍♀️

Yesterday was nothing short of a SUPERB display of the training, focus and determination that Helen puts into achieving her goals. 🔥

And what a swim it was…

🌊 22.4 MILES Loch Lomond

The Loch mostly behaved itself. There were spells of an oncoming breeze, moments of more challenging water and then stretches of absolutely glorious, calm conditions.

But over 22.4 miles, you’re almost guaranteed a bit of a mix! 🌬️🌊☀️

Throughout it all, Helen remained focused, consistent and composed.

✔️ Stroke count
✔️ Speed
✔️ Feeds
✔️ Rhythm
✔️ Focus

All managed with the precision you’d expect from someone who has put in the work.

And we’ve captured some INCREDIBLE images and videos along the way memories that will go straight into the Qswim memory box. 📸💙

Helen, you are a PHENOMENAL, FOCUSED INDIVIDUAL.

Balancing work.
Family.
Training.
Life.

…and still finding the determination to chase these extraordinary goals.

Adding Loch Lomond to your swim CV is absolutely incredible. 🏊‍♀️🏆
We are incredibly proud to have been alongside you for this one.

Thank you, as always, for trusting Qswim to support you on your adventures. 💙

Now… go and enjoy that feeling.

YOU’VE ONLY JUST SWUM THE LENGTH OF LOCH LOMOND! 😱🔥

Another Loch to Helens Swim CV...and her goal of sub 12 hours achieved. 11 hours and 43 minutes. The perfect training swim before her North Channel in September. Now its time to recover and prep for her window opening

Well done Helen

With around 4km to go give or take Helen is powering on. There's been a real mixed bag of conditions today . Mostly smooth but periods of an oncoming breeze not the minimal side breeze that we expected.

Anyway has it detered Hurricane Helen.. has it heck...

Playing about whilst Helen swims the Loch.

A consistent stroke count and pace.. staying on target for her goal...

We have just passed Tarbet which is approximately 10.5km away from the finish at Ardlui.

Overall the weather has been kind and the water temperature stable at 16.6-17 degrees.

We love a surprise visit. Husband Iain had a swim out from Firkin point to catch Helen in full swing..

Helen had a target of sub 12 hours ..at this rate a sub 11 could be in the making..

Go go 🏊‍♂️

We have changing conditions today on Loch Lomond which we always expect.

The forecast said a minimal breeze across the loch today yet we have had a few short periods of an oncoming breeze.

No white tops and no gusts BUT just a little reminder that training in all conditions (when safe) will prepare you for these days out :)

🌡 16.6-16.9 degrees take hourly

Helen has always followed our Training Plans for her Marathon swims and is consistent with injury prevention, strength work and yes she has rest days too 😀

Wallaby Island" is the popular nickname for Inchconnachan, a 103-acre uninhabited island on Loch Lomond in Scotland.

It is famous for hosting Scotland's only colony of wild red-necked wallabies, which were introduced to the island in the 1940s by Fiona Bryde Gore, Lady Arran.

History and WildlifeThe Wallabies: Lady Arran brought the marsupials from her private collection after World War II. The population of 50 to 60 red-necked wallabies has adapted and thrived in the wild for roughly 80 years.

🏴‍☠️🏊‍♀️ NEXT ADVENTURE: LOCH LOMOND! 🏊‍♀️🏴‍☠️

Sometimes a swim comes along that makes you stop and think…

“Yep. That’s BIG!” 😳💦

And Loch Lomond certainly falls into that category!

🌊 22.4 miles to swim
📏 Up to 5 miles / 8km WIDE
⬇️ 190m / 623ft DEEP at its deepest point
🏝️ Around 70km² of water
🏔️ And surrounded by some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery.

The northern section is narrow, deep and dramatic, while the southern part opens out into a huge expanse of water scattered with islands.

And now… meet HELEN HISLOP! 👋❤️

Helen is taking on the HUGE challenge of swimming the length of Loch Lomond and Qswim Adventure will be right there with her, guiding her every stroke of the way. 🚀🏊‍♀️

This isn't just a swim.
It's hours and hours in the water. It's changing conditions.
It's navigation.
It's fuelling.
It's patience.
It's resilience.
And it's one hell of a challenge! 💪🔥

Still catching up on all the amazing racing action our club members have been doing recently.

As always, apologies if I've missed something 🙃

Last weekend was another busy one with multiple events going on.

Up in the Lake District it was the popular Lakesman Middle Distance Tri where Matt Rutherford , Victoria M E Moody-Smith and Chris Ball were all racing.

The sun was out and temperatures were high making a tough day of racing.

Matt finished in 5.00.17
Chris 5.27.37 - a great result after having crashed on the bike 😮
Victoria in 6.06.54

Also in the Lakes it was the Chillswim Coniston 5.25 mile end to end swim and we had 3 taking part.

Well done to Libby Shaw and Julia Hedo who competed the full distance. Julia swam it in skins.

Shell Moss unfortunately succumbed to the cold and was forced to exit early 🥶

Jenn Robson was in Cheshire at the Cholmondeley Castle series racing the Aquathlon. Jenn was really happy with the swim before completing the run. Greay work Jenn, going from strength to strength 💪

On a change from the usual swim, bike, run Jane Skilander Saunders was in Stockholm competing in the Hyrox World Championships, having won her Age Group in the qualifying event in Manchester.

Jane put on a hugely impressive performance, beating her previous time by a couple of minutes, to finsih in 86mins and 38 secs in 25th position (of 104) in her age group. Amazing Jane 💪👏

During the week Helen Hislop has been in swimming action again, this time taking on the challenging Bristol channel.

Helen successfully completed the swim in 9.03.30. Incredible swimming, well done Helen.

Also this week we've had some team bike races too.

First up, on Wednesday, was the popular Warrington RC 4UP Team Time Trial. Usually this is raced over 25miles but due to the heat, it was reduced to 16miles.

We had 2 teams out. First out were Victoria Moody-Smith, Gavin Hunter , Danielle Scott and Zoey Wickens

Jon Fairhurst , Neil Oakes, John Dougherty and Martin Shaw made up the 2nd team.

We also had 2 members, Sam Yates and Chris Ball making up a mixed team with Paul Johnstone and Paul Cubbins of MerseyTri.

Last night, it was a solo effort at the GWR-D
