The moment that a ten minute meditation and some morning tears has brought me to today.

No one is going to save me from the fact that I’ve been neglecting my true nature for far too long.

I’m sure my IG feed sure looks like I am but… we only show on IG what we want people to see right? Videos of myself playing guitar and spending creative time in the studio. Many of these videos were from years ago. My feed is where I go to make myself feel better about what I’m NOT actually doing creatively.

The truth is, my kids are older now and I’ve spent 12 years ignoring my heart’s call to write and sing and record my OWN music. I mask it by building a business of teaching others to play music, and by composing and directing for other people’s projects. @youngmusician.academy

But I’ve been waking up every single day for over 12 years thinking about writing music.
.
I can’t possibly be alone in this? Parenting is amazing, but I’ve been slowly losing myself and I NEED To get myself back in order to be a more whole human, and even better mom.

Fulltrúar Barnaheilla sem voru í Sierra Leone á dögunum litu við í höfuðstöðvum Aurora Foundation. Þar tóku þau við fyrstu 2000 armböndunum sem seld verða á næsta ári á Íslandi til styrktar verkefnum Barnaheilla í Sierra Leone. Starfsfólk Aurora sýndi líka aðra framleiðslu sem unnin er af listafólki á staðnum í samstarfi við íslenska hönnuði.

Armband næsta árs varð þannig til að Aurora bauð til þátttöku í samkeppni um hönnun á armbandinu og sigraði listakonan Hanna Samura. Níu starfandi lista- og handverksfólk í Freetown voru valin í framleiðsluteymi armbandsins, sjö konur og tveir karlar. Það starfar allt á Lumley Beach Market undir hatti Sweet Salone merkisins hjá Aurora.

Er leiðtogi erlendra verkefna hjá Barnaheillum
Hún hefur verið heilluð af Afríku frá því hún var barn og hefur heimsótt 14 lönd í álfunni. Mest hefur hún verið í Senegal og hún á mann þaðan. Guðrún á fullt af börnum og fjölmenningarlegt heimili. Hún kennir þróunarfræði í HÍ og hjá henni er doktorsgráða í þróunarfræðum a næsta leiti. Hún á heiðurinn að umsókninni um verkefni í Sierra Leone í samstarfi við Save the Children þar í landi og mun halda utan um verkefnið í SL sem faglegur leiðtogi.

Håkon Broder Lund er hálfur Íslendingur og hálfur Norðmaður alinn upp í Noregi. Hann hefur ferðast víða um heim en líður best á fjöllum um vetur á skíðum eða í fjallamennsku. Þegar hann skíðar er meiri hraði og bratti betri. Håkon menntaður í jarðfræði en ljósmyndun hefur verið áhugamál frá því hann var lítill. Nú er ljósmyndun hans aðal vinna en hann starfar sjálfstætt sem tökumaður fyrir allskyns kynningarefni. Håkon mun sjá um myndatöku í SL.

Harpa Rut
Er stjórnarformaður Barnaheilla. Hún lærði mannfræði og kennsluréttindi í HÍ og hefur sérstakan áhuga á framandi menningu og fjarlægum löndum. Harpa finnur tilgang í að starfa með og fyrir börn og hefur því sjaldan unnið störf sem ekki snúast um börn. Hún vinnur nú sem verkefnastjóri barnamenningar hjá Reykjavíkurborg þar sem hún skipuleggur Skrekk, Barnamenningarhátíð og ýmis samstarfsverkefni sem snúa að börnum og menningu. Harpa mun sjá um samfélagsmiðla í ferðinni.

Covid-19 update: STAY POSITIVE, a personal note from me.

It's been a while since I posted something because I didn't think it was appropriate to post something about traveling when the whole world is pretty much locked up and a lot of people are suffering from the Corona crisis.

Here in the Netherlands we are in an "intelligent" lockdown since March 16th. We are still allowed to go outside, but with an appropriate distance to each other, and all schools, restaurants and public places are closed.
The worst part is that you can't see your loved ones and you don't know how long it will take, but one thing I have learned lately and that is to appreciate what you do have 😀

So I enjoy spending time with my family (boyfriend and 2 little daughters) and of the spring that is coming 🌷

I'm hopeful when I see how we all want to fight this battle all over the world and look forward to the summer in a positive way. I am convinced that we should do this together and look forward to a better world 🙏🏼 I am curious how you will deal with this and how you see the future?
