Here’s the lowdown on our Vegas trip last month👆🏻

We took these two to NYC last year for their first “best friend trip.” Ever since, they’ve had one request on repeat:

Paris 🇫🇷🥐

Which would be lovely…except we JUST got back from France as a family, and I’m not doing transatlantic flights twice in less than a month 🙈

✨So we still gave them Paris. Just the Las Vegas one 🎰🎲

Two days, a much shorter flight, no passports, no jet lag 🤌🏻

They did not even slightly care that it wasn’t the real thing. Ben promised Lou he’d take her to see the Eiffel Tower one day, and this delivered 👏🏻👏🏻

Most moms don’t realize how easy Vegas actually is with kids. Everything is walkable or a few minutes apart. No car seats, no rental car, no logistics puzzle.

👉🏻 The Strip does most of the entertaining for free…the tower lights up every 30 minutes, the fountains run all night, and both of them were perfectly happy just swimming or standing at the window watching the city light up ✨

We did Rainforest Cafe purely for the nostalgia and us moms def got far more emotional about it than they did🤣. There are only 16 left in the entire country now, down from 59. If your kid hasn’t experienced the ⚡️thunderstorm-every-30-minutes thing ⛈️, go before they’re gone.

Pool days did all the heavy lifting. Kids don’t need a packed itinerary…they simply need water, snacks, and permission to be loud, have fun, and be a kid 🏖️🤿💦 and the moms enjoyed a weekend getaway too! Complete with poolside cocktails, Dr Peppers, and lots of uninterrupted quality time with our favorite kindergartners 💃🏼👦🏼

As a mom that loves to travel, and a nurse…I have one rule: I always spend a few extra minutes preparing our rental upon arrival so I can spend the rest of the trip making memories instead of worrying.

Since we won’t get to take our annual back-to-school trip to the mountains this year with the wildfires still raging, it looks like the beach may be our new reality.

So here are a few reminders if you’re thinking about a beach trip soon too 🫶🏻

The first thing I do is make sure our immediate area is safe for kids, then prep my beach bag for the week so I don’t forget anything.

🤔 One weird thing that’s always in my bag? A small bottle of white vinegar.

FYI: For many jellyfish species, vinegar helps prevent stinging cells (called nematocysts) from firing and releasing more venom into the skin. Fresh water, pee, rubbing the sting, or brushing away tentacles can sometimes trigger those cells to release even more venom.

These are the other little things I never skip:

☀️ Bright neon swimsuits that are SO EASY to spot in water
🧊 Instant cold packs (crack open-no freezer needed)
💧 Saline wound wash (for small cuts or sand in the eyes)
⚡ Electrolytes for hot beach days
🏖️ Door alarms for rentals with pools (ALWAYS)
🧴 Baby powder for sandy feet before getting in the car

Travel should feel adventurous…not stressful. A few smart safety habits ahead of time can mean more time soaking up gorgeous sunsets together, chasing little footprints or an old pup in the sand, and saying “yes” to the next adventure without always being the nagging, anxious, mom worried about every little thing!

In just 3 days you can experience:

We made some ‘rookie mistakes’ (so you don’t have to!), but those moments were far outweighed by the magic of seeing the city through their eyes

Unpopular opinion: traveling with kids is harder… and that’s exactly why it matters.

Hard things build brave kids. Unfamiliar places grow flexible minds….and most importantly, shared challenges (yep, even the stressful travel days) create deeper family bonds.

Travel teaches kids:

🌍 The world is bigger than them
💛 People live differently…and that’s okay
💪 They can handle more than they think

@hello_angelarose :Save this tip if you’re heading to Europe with toddlers anytime soon👇🏻

I was not originally even going to bring this, but I am soooo happy I did! It didn’t even cross my mind that toilets in Europe are different shape than here in the US. Much more circular instead of oval, and harder for little arms to hold themselves up….so this seat was super useful.

Even though my 3 year old is potty trained already, trying to stand and pee on a moving train or noisy bumpy flight can be intimidating and provoke anxiety for small children….shoot it gives me anxiety🤪🫠 They used this *TONS* on our many travel days, as well as anytime they needed to go number 2 in our hotel or airBnB.

It is so small and lightweight, it fit right in a purse or carry on. It doesn’t pinch their legs or slip around, and it’s so easy to wipe clean when done! This was definitely something I was very grateful I ended up bringing along!

I did also bring some pull-ups too, just to wear at night to be on the safe side. Most places we stayed didn’t have mattress protectors on the bed and I’d hate to ruin a bed with a middle of the night accident.

Parenthood changed us.

It changed everything about us both as individuals and as a couple.

Those first few months after a baby it felt like the old “us” was gone forever - dramatic I know but in the moment it felt absolutely true.

And then all of a sudden there were more good days than hard days. Everything felt a little bit lighter, easier to manage and we felt like us again. But an even better, stronger, happier version of us.

If you are in it - the part that feels so hard you might not make it to the other side … this phase does not last forever.

It ends. I promise it ends.
