I did NOT have “working from a hospital ward” on my bingo card last week 🤦‍♀️

Late on Tuesday evening, I took one of my children to hospital, suspecting an issue with his appendix. With my husband on the other side of the world and my other child at home, it was one of those moments where you simply have to focus on what is right in front of you.

My suspicion turned out to be correct and after a couple of days in hospital, he underwent surgery to have his appendix removed. Thankfully, he’s now back home, recovering well and I’m gradually catching up on everything that was put on hold.

What stayed with me most from last week was the support I received from the people around me.

As soon as I knew I needed to step away, our team picked up everything they could. For the things that needed my direct attention, I contacted clients directly to let them know what was happening.

Every single response was supportive.

“Don’t worry.”
“Look after your family.”
“We’ll catch up when you’re ready.”

No frustration. No pressure. Just understanding. It reminded me why relationships matter so much in business.

We spend a lot of time talking about systems, processes and productivity, and all of those things are important but moments like this remind me that business is ultimately about people.

People supporting people. Clients who understand that sometimes life happens. A team who step up when they’re needed (and have been empowered to do so!) A network of people who genuinely want the best for one another.

Last week could have been incredibly stressful. Instead, I was able to focus on where I needed to be, knowing everything else was in safe hands.

So this is really just a thank you. To our team. To our clients. To everyone who checked in, offered support or simply understood.

I’m incredibly grateful for our small biz community 💛
