Writing a massive check to a franchisor without getting face time with the founder is a risk no smart investor should take. Mike Reyes, Multi-Unit Owner and Founder of NextGen Holdings, spent 10 years as a multi-unit Orangetheory Fitness franchisee and built an active real estate portfolio alongside it, giving him a close look at what separates operators who scale from operators who stall. When he found @kidstrong_ he did what he always does. He went past the FDD, talked to operators across the system, and asked the only question that mattered to him: how many centers are actually thriving, and how fast are they getting there? He also prioritized meeting Matt Sharp, Founder of Kidstrong. That meeting provided the ultimate pressure test for the partnership, proving that real founder alignment is the true game-changer when scaling a multi-state franchise portfolio. What started as a 10 brand mastermind in 2016 was an idea to bring franchise leaders together to have honest conversations about what was working, what wasn’t, and what they were trying to build. A lot has changed since then. But what hasn’t is that some of the best ideas come from getting the right people together and talking openly about the business. Hard to believe this was 10 years ago! #francamp #franchising
