I share pretty much only my photography here, but the truth is I have two careers that I absolutely love - photography and design - especially design for print 📚❤️. One of the really fun projects I worked on last year is out in the wild now and I wanted to make sure I shout about it!

It was a real joy to design this coffee table book on the Mediterranean for @lonelyplanet . I got my start in travel photography shooting for LP many years ago and it’s so lovely to be back with them, this time on the design side!

A real pleasure to work with such a talented team on this one - @emdubin @robinabarton @petervg73 and @claire_pictured_this with illustrations by the incredible @anna.tzortzi 🙌🏼 Thank you all!

The legendary TranzAlpine train making its way through the mountains and valleys near Arthur’s Pass. It’s one of my favourite journeys to make in Aotearoa, so it was lovely to jump on and off during this shoot for @natgeotraveluk - being surrounded by glittering snow-covered mountains just does good things for the soul 😌

One of the lovely things about being back in the Bay of Plenty is photographing for the folks at @ourplacemagazine again. I’m always amazed by the talented, kind people they find to highlight in the region, and Stu McDonald and his team from @theahipoutucollective were no exception. Giving time and space for kids with the aim to “reindigenise living, learning and healing spaces through toi Māori” is love in action, and I’m looking forward to sharing more from this story…

The colours of the Cook Islands have stayed with me long after I left. When I close my eyes I think of the vibrancy not only of the places, but the people too ☺️ Winter is descending here in Aotearoa but it’s been so lovely to wrap myself up in the warmth of this shoot for the past few days - I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing it!

I’m pretty sure I have a bunch of behind the scenes videos and shots from this one too - I usually share that kind of thing on Stories but wondering if I should just put them here on the grid? What say you, friends?

There are few places I’ve visited that have as strong a sense of self as the Cook Islands. The culture of this place is steeped every person you meet, and it was an honour to spend time with and learn from the artists and people who make up this beautiful part of the world.

From ‘Papa Mike’ Tavioni @gallerytavioni whose hands seem to effortlessly turn from stonework to woodwork to tattooing to painting and all manner of art forms in between, whose passion for the islands and its culture is palpable; to younger artists such as tattooist @hinano__wearing and artist @remiah___ as well as the myriad of people who dance, sing, weave, paint, sew tivaevae and rejoice in the land they’re from. It was a gift to witness. Meitaki for inviting me into your world 🩵

The Cook Islands! A scattering of 15 islands in the South Pacific, it’s a nation that is bursting with creative culture and tradition. I was thrilled to spend time exploring Rarotonga and Aitutaki learning about the many beautiful crafts that exist here (if you know me, you know that this is ✨very✨ much my jam) and was honoured to spend time with so many talented and knowledgable makers. Throw in a trip to Aututaki and the bluest lagoon I’ve ever clapped my eyes on, and the result was more images than I could ever share in static posts!

I hope you like this lil’ experiment into sharing more images from shoots here - it feels so much nicer to share more of my favourites in this format, and I’m excited to make more! I might even revisit some older commissions and dig out images that I haven’t shared here before 😉

From inland hikes and trying all the incredible fruit growing in Rarotonga with @ariimoana_walkabouts (thanks Kura, Jacapo and Mahi!) to the Mamas making Tivaevae and ei katu (flower headdresses) on their front porches (thank you @tivaevaecollectables , Tekura, Victoria, Tamapua, Kura and Verokura 🪡), artists @remiah___ (still in love with the print I bought from you!) and Katu Taiti. Incredible food at @avateacafe on Aitutaki, and the Punanga Nui markets in Rarotonga. And of course huge thanks to @benrowephotos @ollypuglisi and @mandacanning for the beautiful commission right here in the South Pacific 🙌🏼

More wildly talented artists and deep deep blues to come! And if you’ve made it all the way down the end of this caption, I’d love to hear what you think of sharing more images from travel stories in this way ☺️

None of the research I did before arriving at Tapuaetai (on the edge of the Aitutaki lagoon in the Cook Islands) prepared me for the borderline-hallucinogenic experience of being surrounded by such beauty.

I’m fairly sure I spent my short time on the island running/scrambling/swimming (delete where applicable 😌) around, hell-bent on making sure I did it all justice with my camera. I even threw the drone up in a strong wind - potential crashes bedamned! - and I’m so glad that I did. What a day 🩵

I’ll be sharing more from this shoot for @natgeotraveluk soon. Meanwhile, here’s some favourite drone shots from that beautiful afternoon. Thanks to the ace team of @benrowephotos @mandacanning and @ollypuglisi for the beautiful commission 🙌🏼

Massive congratulations @eviekemp on the publication of your new book, so thoughtfully designed and published by the brilliant @toniashuttleworth at @koapress 🙌🏼

I spent a lovely day in Auckland with these ladies shooting the portraits for this book, and it was a real treat to be involved in such a beautiful + inspiring publication. Go grab yourself a copy now!

(Also massive kudos to Evie for being up for anything - including having Tonia throw pillows at her for the shot! 😂)

Continuing on with sharing images from this shoot! Fiona from @hapukukitchen has the knife collection of my dreams (I’d love to do one of those courses where you make your own) and an incredibly special morning spent swimming with hundreds of Dusky dolphins in the waters of Kaikōura 💙

Shot for @hemispheresforunited Three Perfect Days cover story, on your United flights now!

Finally! I’ve been able to sit still and start pulling together some images to share from the lovely shoot I recently did in the South Island here in Aotearoa New Zealand for @hemispheresforunited alongside Editor extraordinaire @ellencarpenter11 .

It’s fair to say that pretty much everything was a highlight, but we’re going to start off in the incredible gardens of Fiona from @hapukukitchen in Kaikōura who - alongside assistant Jerusha - welcomed us into her space so generously. I could’ve spent all day there…

On the road again and it’s so lovely to be photographing in the southern hemisphere, this time for the good folks @natgeotraveluk. It’s a real treat to be out here in the Cook Islands, and an absolutely massive treat to have been able to take a quick dip in this water yesterday 💙🌴
