Since 1893, Helping Hand Home has provided hope and healing to children and families who have experienced complex trauma. Hope Happens Here®

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I had the honor of speaking at Helping Hand Home’s Champions for Children Luncheon in Austin, Texas, and as meaningful as it was to share The Story of CIA, what stayed with me most was the story that Helping Hand Home has been writing for over 100 years.

A CENTURY of showing up for children.

A century of opening doors, offering hope, and reminding children that the circumstances they were born into do not have to determine the lives they go on to live.

And behind every one of those years are people.

People who saw a need and did something about it. People who understood that changing a child’s life doesn’t always require changing the whole world.

Sometimes, it simply requires showing up in theirs.

I know that because I was once that child.

I have no words to describe what it felt like standing in a room filled with people who are doing for other children what so many once did for me.

Full Circle, in every sense of the words!

This is what Together Better looks like in action.

A community coming together, each person bringing what they can, and collectively building something that will outlive them all.

Thank you, Helping Hand Home, for allowing me to witness the beauty of what you’ve built and for letting me share a small piece of my story along the way.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the next 100 years and all the little lives that will be forever changed because someone chose to show up.

Children at Helping Hand Home create art in the spirit of Paul Klee’s “Castle and Sun” (1928) and then use their math-terpieces to count and identify shapes #Math+Art=Fun #PaulKlee #MathGoggles @helpinghandhome

Yesterday I had the honor of offering yoga and sound to the incredible staff of @helpinghandhome at their retreat at the Holdsworth Center, tucked into the trees near Lake Austin. 🌳

There is something so special about creating space for the people who pour their hearts into caring for others. Watching this team slow down, breathe, and soak in the sound was truly such a beautiful offering to be part of.

Helping Hand Home for Children does deeply meaningful work for kids and families in our community, and their staff is the heart of it.

If you’re not already, please follow @helpinghandhome and find ways to support them going forward. Organizations like this make Austin a better place. 🩵✨

Thank you to the whole Helping Hand team for having me. I’m so grateful.

@helpinghandhome for Children has been providing hope and healing to children and families in our community for more than a century.

Tania Leskovar-Owens, CEO of Helping Hand Home for Children, and featured speaker Aliscia Brorman sat down with Trevor Scott on We Are Austin to share more about the organization’s mission and its upcoming 27th Annual Champions for Children Awards Luncheon! ❤️

Helping Hand Home serves children in the foster care system, children who have been adopted from foster care and families working to prevent children from entering the system. Their work includes foster care and adoption services, post adoption support, residential care and therapeutic services.

On October 8, the Champions for Children Awards Luncheon at the JW Marriott Austin will bring the community together to recognize extraordinary people and organizations making a difference for children and families.

Tickets are still available for this year’s celebration! Head to the link in our bio to learn more!
