Feeling so grateful to have spent a morning in the wonderful company of brilliant women and art. 🫶

Firstly, thank you to Natalie of @countrysideartclub , whose beautifully curated programme of art experiences included this special studio visit with @hennyacloque — and for inviting me to join Henny in conversation as part of the tour.

And congratulations to brilliant Henny, whose incredible paintings weave together figuration, abstraction and surrealism, exploring landscape and its histories through place, memory and her own inner world. It was fascinating to hear about the influence of travel, particularly Seville, motherhood, books (current excellent reading pictured!) music/soundscapes, and her early career restoring Old Master paintings, which gave her such an intimate understanding of paint and its handling. I could have listened for hours.

We had the pleasure of working together in 2023 on her solo exhibition ’Pentimenti’ at the gallery in Oxford with @benjaminparsons.art, so it was particularly lovely to reconvene and hear about her upcoming exhibition in Geneva.

Henny’s generosity in bringing artists and art-world friends together knows no bounds — reminding us what it means to be human, and how much we gain from sharing time, ideas and art. ✨💚

We loved exploring the connection between the layers of paint you uncovered as a restorer and the layers of your own psyche revealed through your painting, shaped by daily influences—from the wilds of Berkshire to the abundant gardens of Seville. We look forward to seeing how your works in progress evolve.

📣 Last chance to apply to the 2026 BODY and PLACE residency!

You have until the 3rd of Feburary 2026 to apply to BODY and PLACE, our fully funded annual drawing residency, taking place within the grounds of @owlpenmanor
Up to 10 selected artists will take part in 4 days of exploratory drawing workshops across this private 400 acre in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. Led by tutor @mamodraw BODY and PLACE aims to reinvigorate your drawing practice.

This residency welcomes artists of all disciplines, from sculptors to animators, and all stages of their professional career. Selected artists are expected to have some form of established drawing practice, although not necessarily life drawing. This opportunity is open to professional artists from across the UK and internationally, including students currently enrolled in postgraduate study.

Participating artists (a minimum of 5 from the open call) will be selected by @thecolab.art director Claire Mander and a panel of experts in the field of drawing including; Elena Crippa (@_elena_crippa ), Senior Curator of Contemporary Art and Projects, The Courtauld; Mary Doyle (@marydoyledrawing ), Director, Drawing Room; Luce Garrigues (@lucegarrigues ), Jane Hayes Greenwood (@janehayesgr ), artist and 2025 BODY and PLACE residency participant; Tania Kovats (@kovats66 ), artist; and Chris Stephens, Director of the Holburne Museum (@chrisstephens2512 ).

Absolutely brilliant, hilarious, magical week of drawing in the most beautiful surroundings on the Body and Place residency organised by@thecolab.art, at beautiful Owlpen Manor, led by @mamodraw.

A huge thank you to Clare Mander, @alicewalters0 and the Owlpen team for all their hard work and generous hosting! To go back to school, draw and be cooked beautiful meals, for an entire week (especially when you are used to cooking none stop for small children!) is an unbelievable gift!!

This is the installation of the Show ‘Lush’ opening tonight at Thames side studios gallery in Woolwich. This great show was put together by my old friends Paul Moriarty and Myra Stimson. Both have work in the show alongside Henny Acloque, Jo Dennis, Sarah Dwyer, Dido Hallet and Max Wade.
