Henry O. Head - Twelve Acres

FROM THE GALLERY 📸 @henryohead

Henry O. Head (b. 1993 in Irving, Texas; raised in Southwest Missouri) is a self-taught photographer based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. After dropping out of college at age 19, he and a fellow traveler, photographer Michael Portugal, hitchhiked around the U.S.A. This time on the road ignited his creative journey and led him to embrace photography as a practice rooted in memory, place, and emotion.

Working fluidly across genres of portraiture, documentary, conceptual, and editorial, Head uses 35mm, medium, and large-format analog film. His approach treats the camera both as a mirror and a window: a tool for exploring inner states and engaging with the often overlooked people, subcultures and landscapes of the American South and Midwest.
Viewed internationally and locally, his work has been exhibited in Paris, London, South Korea, Paris and the U.S.. Head has also led photography workshops in the U.S., Greece, and Ireland, sharing his photographic sensibilities and creative methods with global audiences.

His debut monograph, Twelve Acres, retraces the emotional terrain of adolescence in the Ozarks. Blending unsentimental portraiture, immersive landscapes, and memory-laden
storytelling, the series moves between documentary clarity and dreamlike opacity, reflecting the shifting nature of memory itself.
