Helping veterans with PTSD access alternative healing programs.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Why community & connection matters.

This week I sat on a panel at THE REAL Summit in New York with Richard Zimmerman, Ben Roche, Geoffrey Sargeant and Antony Besso.

A room full of people working on one question: how do we fund, build and show up for mental health?

THE REAL Philanthropic Mental Health Fund is aiming to mobilize $10 billion and change 100 million lives by 2035. Big goal. But every one of those lives starts with one conversation.

I flew across the continent to say what I’ve learned on every mile: nobody heals alone.

Thank you to THE REAL for bringing this room together, and to everyone who spoke up from the audience.

One question. Seven voices. 🎙️

At the Military Influencer Conference (MIC), we sat down in person with seven guests and asked each the same thing: What challenge facing veterans deserves more attention, and what should the veteran listening know about it?

Their answers show different sides of the veteran experience, along with a shared belief that veterans can help one another and drive real change.

Which challenge would you add? Tell us in the comments. 👇

Not everything needs a reaction. Not every problem needs to be solved today.

Sometimes the strongest move is to pause, breathe, and regain control.

Don't make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.

Slow down. Find clarity. Move with purpose. 💪

The full schedule for the Veterans & Psychedelics Wellness Summit is here! 🌄

Psychedelic-assisted therapies are changing lives, and on November 8 we’re bringing some of those stories together in Southern Pines. You’ll hear from veterans who found healing after years of searching, clinicians working to make care safe and accessible, and experts explaining where the science and policy stand today.

This is where community meets wellness. We’ll start the morning with breathwork on the outdoor stage, spend the afternoon in honest conversation at the Sunrise Theater, and close the day with yoga, breathwork, and time to connect with local partners and practitioners.

Veterans, families, and the whole community are welcome. We can’t wait to spend the day with you.

📍 Sunrise Theater, Southern Pines, NC

🗓️ Sunday, Nov 8 | 11am–5pm

“This investment is deeply personal to me.” — Juliana Mercer, Executive Director of Healing Breakthrough

Healing Breakthrough and Heroic Hearts Project have worked in California for more than five years alongside veterans, researchers, advocates, and legislators on both sides of the aisle.

“Our work now is to ensure that this investment produces strong research and that the evidence ultimately translates into safe, responsible, and accessible treatment pathways for veterans who need better options.” — @juliana__mercer

It takes a village, and ours is pretty special 💚

On November 8, we’re bringing the Veterans & Psychedelics Wellness Summit to Southern Pines during Global Psychedelic Week. We couldn’t do it without these incredible sponsors and community partners.

Too many veterans and their families are still searching for healing that works. Southern Pines is home to a proud military community, and they deserve honest, evidence-based conversations about breakthrough therapies, right here in their own backyard.

Join us for yoga and breathwork, expert talks, a storytelling panel, and a lot of community 🌅

For years, veterans crossed borders searching for care. This week, we cross them to help build what comes next.

I’m headed to Prague with our Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition delegation to join European colleagues doing extraordinary work to advance mental health care.

We come as guests, ready to listen, learn, and partner. To share lessons from the American experience and support the work already taking root across Europe.

On October 12, we’ll join FRONTLINE at the Czech National Institute of Mental Health, where military, medical, and policy leaders will discuss trauma, resilience, and security alongside Ukrainian colleagues.

On October 13, SCALE 2026 at Prague Castle carries that conversation forward: “From Evidence to Access.”

Governor Rick Perry and LtGen Martin R. Steele, USMC (Ret.), will help open the day. I’ll moderate Marcus Luttrell, Jesse Gould, Dr. Martin Polanco, and Trevor Millar for “PTSD Treatment in the United States: From Tijuana to the Oval Office.”

Behind that title are years of lived experience and people who refused to stop asking what better care could look like.

Our European partners bring their own hard-earned knowledge. The opportunity to learn from one another, strengthen these relationships, and turn shared purpose into action is why we’re going.

Deep gratitude to PsychedelicsEUROPE, CuraCura, EPIC, PSYRES, and our Czech hosts.

For the people still waiting for care, and the families waiting for them to come home.

Happy #WorldMentalHealthDay from the Peaking team. Over the course of this documentary, we met people with the most incredible stories who were willing to take a risk on camera. Here's what they had to say.
