Indian Food In A Roadside Diner?! 🍛🔥

Hero Saab in Leighton Buzzard had been on my radar for ages, so I finally popped in to see what all the fuss was about. Think Bengali food served in a Bollywood-inspired roadside diner with loads of smoky grilled meats, chaats, curries and some surprisingly good alcohol-free mocktails.

Highlights for me were the roadside mixed grill, the slow-cooked lamb and the tiger prawn tawa tak-a-tak. Proper comforting food with loads of flavour throughout.

📍 Leighton Buzzard

I was invited by @herosaab_ in Leighton Buzzard and I was excited to finally try it after seeing it all over TikTok!

Starters:

We started with the Mix Chaat Platter (£13) and this was presented so well. I LOVE chaat and honestly everything tasted on point. The pani puri was easily a 10/10 and all the different chaats were packed with flavour.

Mains:

Bengali Beef Chilli Fry (£12.50) — I’d never heard of this dish before so wanted to try something different. It had a really sweet flavour with a touch of spice. Not what I expected at all but in a surprisingly good way!

Chicken Tawa Tak A Tak (£10) — The flavours in this were really nice and it looked loaded with masala which I loved!😍

Mix Grill (£17) — Came with garlic naan. The grill itself looked decent and I really liked the chicken, paneer and lamb chops included. The only downside was the garlic naan didn’t taste fresh, especially since we had curries alongside it. Overall, the mix grill was average for me.

Curry:

Jalfrezi Chicken (£9) — A decent curry but I felt like it needed a bit more flavour and spice.

Drinks:

Strawberry Mint (£6) — My friend loved this one. Very refreshing and sweet.

Virgin Mojito (£6) — I always order mojitos but this one was a bit too sweet for my liking so not one of my favourites.

Sides:

Spinach & Potato (£4.75) — This was actually one of the standout dishes for me! Paired with the garlic naan, it tasted AMAZING!🌟

Fries (£3) — Fresh, crispy and nicely spiced.

Overall, I’d definitely come back with family to try more dishes. The food was good, presentation was nice and there were a few standout items but I’d probably ask for extra spice next time.

Definitely worth trying if you’re in Leighton Buzzard 👀✨
