ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Imagined Futures (@blkimagined) is excited to announce that “Things We Imagined: Black Futurity and Academic Life” will be featured as an #ASHE2025 keynote session!

On Thursday, November 13th at 6:30pm (MDT), “Things We Imagined” will make its world premiere at the Association for the Study of Higher Education annual conference in Denver, Colorado. This film brings together more than two years of collaboration with 75 current, aspiring, and former Black faculty members representing 55 colleges and universities.

Using a pop-up studio format, we captured artistic portraits, in-depth interviews, and behind the scenes footage at the Association for the Study of Higher Education conferences in Minneapolis (2023, 2024), the American College Personnel Association conference in Chicago (2024), and the annual meeting of American Educational Researchers Association in Philadelphia (2024). Additional footage from a campus visit to the University of Maryland, College Park and post-production retreats in St. Louis, Missouri are also included.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who invested in this project, including our amazing crew, collaborators, and colleagues (next slide).

Stay tuned for the cinematic trailer ahead of the conference next month!
