Everyday is Indigenous Peoples’ Day🤎🪶 We had the amazing honor to host the 4th annual IPD PHX Fest Run and Walk with @cahokiaphx @ovah_hillcreations.official and @azcenterphx It was such a beautiful experience of native pride and strength. I could not help but see how much we shine and bring so much joy to every space we fill. I know this is how our ancestors survived so much, because when we get together nothing stops the laughter, connection and shared love. It was so great to meet so many new runners and finally meet others in person. The running community is so special. It’s was so great combine a group run with so many indigenous arts and crafts. As our runners picked up bibs and got ready to run we were surrounded by Apache crown dancers and Aztec dancers. It elevated our community movement to another level of indigenous resilience and power. We had such an awesome event!! Thank you for supporting and participating! Huge shout out to @tortoiseandharesquad and @altrarunning for supporting, providing and volunteering. We had the coolest bibs, shirts, medals, awards and (soon) photos with their help! Thank you @moccasinrunning for your yearly help! And @native_women_run for sharing our event. And the biggest thank you to my sole sisters and family. We can’t do this without them. Love you!!

I’m so excited to start planning for this year’s Indigenous People’s Day run and walk. Save the date! Monday, October 12th at the Arizona Center. Last year was an amazing time! The start and finish of the race was right down the corridor from the stage. That evening was filled with native music, food, art and laughter. It felt like the very definition of Indigenous joy. Moving together to honor all the tribes in Arizona was such a blessing and one that keeps giving because we showed up for our community and made it stronger. This year I aim to keep creating this space for us to move together, connect and enjoy our vibrant culture. I hope to see there this year. If you want to volunteer, donate or collaborate please reach out. Ipdphx.com So thankful for my family & friends and the community partners that helped the run/walk last year!! @cahokiaphx @azcenterphx @lululemon @native_women_run @moccasinrunning @tortoiseandharesquad @guenergylabs Thank you so much!! 📷Amazing photos by @photographybyroshan

“Become a Pro at Being You.” Native American students from across the state came together for Finding the Champion Within You, hosted by @rise_above_inc_ and the Native American Fatherhood and Families Association. It was more than just a two-day basketball clinic — it was a powerful experience filled with motivational speakers, talking circles, and time with professional basketball players and coaches who poured wisdom into our youth. @hhs.nativeamericanhawks and @syd_rrocks performed on day one. So proud of them for having the courage to share their songs and dancing. Thank you Owen for joining us. Our students showed up, leaned in, and walked away inspired and empowered. Thank you to everyone who put their heart work into making this happen. Thanks @angels_ventures for helping me chaperone. I ❤️ it when our community makes our youth the number one priority. #forOurNativeYouth #hozhovibes #leadership unityinc76 #Ipromise #Rezball

We love when the running community comes together! It was great to run/walk with such an inspirational native runner, Ku Stevens. His running story is powerful and beautifully illustrated through director Paige Bethmann. Their documentary, Remaining Native, is a must watch for all of Indian country. And we are glad Highland High Schools Native American Youth Council were able to meet and run with him. Ahe’hee @ku_stevens @impaigebee @remainingnative for spending time with our @hhs.nativeamericanhawks and @native_women_run community.

Every November we share our culture with our school district for Native American Heritage Month. Every year our kids (and I) get more and more comfortable sharing and showcasing our heritage with so many friends and community members. I love sharing my culture but nothing beats seeing my kids embrace all they are as Diné people. They love their culture and share with more pride than I ever did at their age. I am so proud of them. I love my school, they welcomed Highland High School Native American Youth Council’s visit with love and anticipation. They also gave us the loudest cheers. I love that Ashton got to dance for his class and friends. He’s so proud to show his Hoop moves with them. Highland High School students performed the jingle dress dance, gourd dance, sash belt dance, hoop dance and go my son.
