August 1984. Twenty of the world's best surfers in one frame, captured by Aaron Chang.

Shot in a rented photo studio in Sydney, Australia, during a world tour event, this became the cover of Surfing Magazine's 20th Anniversary Special Edition. The biggest group of surfing talent ever assembled for a single photo.

Remembering Buttons Kaluhiokalani, Dane Kealoha, and Willy Morris.

One of my favourite things about Waikiki is watching surfers gather beyond the beach, sitting quietly on their boards and waiting for the next wave.

From above, I became fascinated by the little community they formed in the water. Everyone was there for their own ride, but at the same time they were sharing the ocean, the anticipation and the experience together.

That feeling became Surf Community Afloat.

For me, this image isn't only about surfing. It is about belonging somewhere for a moment, surrounded by warm water, sunshine and people who are there for exactly the same reason.

🙌🏽 It is impossible to construct the perfect equation for what makes a movie a cult classic-but filming legends like the ones in this movie, shredding hard, splashed with 80s neon and dropping one-liners like there’s no tomorrow, definitely helps in the probability of a surf film having a cult following that has one of the raddest, most loyal fan bases of all time— and we haven’t even mentioned the music!! 🤯 #YeahNoh! 😍🙌🏽
Whether you love it or hate to admit it, North Shore will go down in history, as a movie that helped shape the surfing world into what it is today... In all of its 80s glory, North Shore helped give a worldwide voice to the real surf-related issues that are still alive today- Over-crowding, tourism, respect for the land and ocean

Learning to surf on the North Shore 🌺 my goal today was tiny, just remember where to look.

Surfing looks so simple until you’re out there trying to remember every tip at once 😅 Look the right way, make the turn, backhand... meanwhile my brain: 🫠 My coach Martin even wrote my one focus on the board so I couldn’t forget it.
