Meet the artists:

MIZU @iammizu__ United States): a Juilliard-trained cellist and composer. She is developing 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘪, an experimental performance that reimagines the sound, dance and costume of Japanese kabuki theater.

Paola Fiterre @paola_fiterre (Cuba/United States): an artist who uses her own body as both subject and medium. Her work 𝘋𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 confronts expectations placed on women through intimate, visceral actions.

Christiana Kosiari @christiana_kosiari (Greece): an Athens-based dancer and choreographer returning to Watermill, where she began 𝘜𝘯𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘢 in 2025. She shares 𝘌𝘤𝘩𝘰 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳, a performance about fear, reassurance and what we surrender in order to feel less alone.

Kofi Konadu Berko @kon_adu_ (Ghana): winner of the 2024 Adinkra Poetry Prize. He is developing 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘉: 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘘𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, a poetry collection that uses Akan Twi riddles and proverbs to explore Ghanaian identity. His residency is in partnership with the Adinkra Poetry Prize.

A little scrapbook of what’s been catching my eye lately.
As @cuppashanti Creative Founder and someone who works in experiential... I’m always looking at spaces, film, music, art, food and the little details that make culture feel alive.
I wanted to start sharing more of that process ... the things I save, notice, come back to, and sometimes carry into my own work.
So this is what’s filling my cup this October.

MBARI KOLA — Ikoyi, Lagos
I’m really interested in spaces that make African culture feel contemporary without stripping away the context that makes it African. Mbari Kola, a reimagined 1960s family home in Ikoyi, brings culture, community, architecture and storytelling together through art, talks and workshops.

I love how Senkulive can feel nostalgic and forward-looking at the same time - Ghanaian traditional music and highlife through a contemporary live-band lens. Their newest release, “Accra We Dey” with Pure Akan and Aduberks, recently dropped.

I love artists who refuse to stay in one lane. Hiba moves between photography, film, painting and art direction, and this autumn she’s taking that practice from a Watermill Center residency in New York to the Bamako Biennale in November.

Tonight at 5:30 PM, we’re opening our studios and rehearsal spaces for IN PROCESS, an evening with our current Artists-in-Residence, who will share new work as it takes shape.

Meet the artists:

☾⋆｡𖦹 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗰𝗵 مهرجان الحصاد فمراكش 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 °✩𖤓

Titled and framed around 𝐑𝐢’𝐚̄𝐲𝐚 — the Arabic word most often translated simply as “care” — which carries within it the root ر-ع-ي, from which we also find rā’ī الرّاعي, the shepherd. 🐑

We approach care as inseparable from the act of tending: to a flock, to land, to one another. 🌱

In this 11th edition, we seek to reclaim and recast the word ‘care’, which has become an increasingly emptied term within popular discourse.

We begin by situating it within our own cultural context; by underlining its specificity in maintaining our cultural practices; and by celebrating and thinking alongside artists, artisans, thinkers, dreamers and builders, labourers, storytellers and the rural stewards who sustain and continually reinvent our culture. 🤍

This framing is not a new endeavour, but part of an ongoing inquiry within our cultural programming and our field work through the High Atlas Cultural Landscapes programme 🗻; to make visible, remember and valorise acts, forms of knowledge and communities we often lose sight of, swept up as we are in colonial logics of temporality and the neoliberalisation of our daily rhythms of life.

2026 has been a year of rethinking, re-rooting and relanding for us. 🪾

Hence, this edition, being the only one we organise this year, also comes after a year of re-examining our own pace and rhythm of work. (More will be shared on this later this year.)

𝐑𝐢’𝐚̄𝐲𝐚 has thus also become a framework for us to think about how we organise ourselves, how to be in relationship to the multiple ecologies we work within and alongside, and how we might best respond to these strange times. 🌍

Currently on view at Loft Art Gallery’s new Casablanca space, Hamasāt al-Fajr (Whispers of Dawn) inaugurates a new season for the gallery, almost eighteen years after Loft Art Gallery was founded in the city.

Rooted in an idea of renewal through continuity, the exhibition explores how memory, material and cultural references become starting points for experimentation, as younger voices develop their own approaches and visual languages.

Anchored in the artistic histories of Morocco, Africa and the Arab world while resolutely contemporary and international in its outlook, the new space reflects Loft Art Gallery’s vision of these geographies as points of departure rather than boundaries, opening into wider artistic conversations.

2k25/2k26 season has been extraordinary✨

Less than 12 months, 4 continents, Some of the world’s most prestigious art fairs, unforgettable collaborations, meaningful encounters, and creative projects that left a lasting mark.

From 1-54 Marrakech to New York, London, Paris, Basel, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and finally the Moroccan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, every stop brought new perspectives and reminded me that art remains one of the most powerful ways to connect people, cultures, and ideas.

Contributing to the Moroccan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and helping document its creative journey was the perfect way to close this chapter. I’m deeply grateful to every artist, curator, gallery, institution, collaborator, and friend who trusted me to tell a small part of their story.

I’m still relatively new to this world, and one thing I’ll never stop admiring is seeing passionate people build galleries, fairs, institutions, and spaces that allow other passionate people to create, meet, and grow. I’m only a small cog in a much bigger machine, but it’s a remarkable one.

Maybe it’s because I’m a @nyknicks fan, but this season genuinely feels like the end of a championship run.

Oh… and I almost forgot

Bringing together 13 artists born between 1985 and 2000, État(s) de passage explores practices shaped by multiple geographies, languages and cultural contexts. Rather than opposing "here" and "elsewhere", the exhibition suggests that circulation has become an ordinary condition of contemporary artistic practice.

It also echoes a broader curatorial shift. Like Basma Mansour's exhibition at Photo Tanger, État(s) de passage moves beyond fixed ideas of identity to consider belonging as something fluid, plural and constantly negotiated.
If mobility has become the norm, what new artistic forms will emerge from it?
