Saskatoon, even the skeletons have plans. Do you?

A blue-lit cemetery gate. A skeleton waving from its coffin. A glowing drummer who clearly hasn’t heard that the party’s over.

This side of Pumpkins After Dark Saskatoon deserved its own carousel. From a steaming green cauldron to intricate pumpkin carvings, every stop gave my camera something different to capture.

Swipe to the end for the display that politely tells us it’s time to leave.

Still planning your Halloween night out in Saskatoon? Gather your friends, dress warmly, and take your time exploring. Look closely at the carvings. The little details are half the fun.

Have you been to Dwight’s Coffeehouse in Prince Albert?! ☕️

They even have a secret patio area when you sneak through their shop which is a little hidden gem. But don’t tell anyone. 🤫

The stretch we now know as Kiwanis Memorial Park wasn’t always manicured grass, huge trees and one of the nicest views in the city. In the early 1900s, this part of the riverbank was used for power plant ash and excess fill from construction around the growing city.

Then in the 1930s, Saskatoon started turning it into public park space. Now it’s hard to imagine this area as anything else.

Which is maybe my favourite kind of local history! When somewhere you’ve walked through a hundred times becomes completely different once you know what was there before.

Marcelin Fall Supper | Marcelin, SK 📍

Last weekend, Mr C and I attended the annual fall supper in Marcelin! Lots of delicious homemade food and a huge variety of desserts to choose from! 🤤 Mr C’s mom was one of the many wonderful people who contributed their time and baking skills to the dessert spread! 😋

For those who aren’t familiar, fall suppers are a longstanding tradition in many small Saskatchewan communities, usually held around harvest season.

It’s a time when community members come together to prepare and serve a homemade feast for everyone to enjoy! These suppers are often organized by local churches or community groups, with proceeds going towards supporting the community.

This year, I got a tiny sneak peek behind the scenes, and there’s definitely a lot more work involved than just serving food! From constantly preparing and heating up dishes to washing dishes and keeping everything running smoothly, there’s always something happening!

And it’s not just about the food either! There were raffle draws, a 50/50, and even a little “fishing pond” game where the little ones could win prizes! 🎣

But beyond the delicious food, it’s about bringing people together, keeping small-town traditions alive, and appreciating the hard work that goes into putting food on our tables.

With harvest season wrapping up, it’s also a little reminder of how much time, effort, and dedication goes into farming. A big thank you to all the hardworking farmers and farm families who help keep food on our tables! ❤️🌾

Interested in attending a fall supper? You can find more happening in small towns across Saskatchewan by checking Facebook for upcoming events! 🍂
