Annnd maybe dance a little while we’re at it 🤭 @souplaws and I are out here at @cherritybar supporting our friend @bell_star_tx with her nonprofit @highvoltagemusicsa. The High Voltage Music Program is a nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of underserved teens through the culture of music. Every donation goes to providing free lessons and instruments to San Antonio’s next generation of musicians. 💕 Music is such an important part of Soup and I’s lives. From our early morning coffee routines to late night work (and drinking 👀) sessions, we’re constantly playing music and bonding over discovering new artists. Donating art for her silent auction (happening NOW!) was an easy yes, but showing up and being a part of the nonprofits 10 year anniversary is an honor. Come by before 8pm today to be a part of something bigger, and maybe take home some goodies while you’re at it. 🥰 Like, share, and feel good about supporting our city’s music scene. 🤘🏽 #satxlocal #satxart #sanantoniotx #coupleartist #nonprofit

Now that @visitsanantonio and The @thesanantonioriverwalk has it out there, I just want to say I'm filled with gratitude and pride to be one of six individuals that was chosen to be honored as one of the Hispanic Heroes during the kickoff of Hispanic Heritage Month! As a first-generation Mexican-American, I accept this on behalf of being my father's daughter. I don't need accolades for anything I do, but when they do come, it does solidify some of the things that I feel good about that I've accomplished and have achieved being a self-taught person in our community. At the very least, I would like those who feel like they don't have all of the degrees and education that it takes to do what you would like to do, to know experience does matter and that it's never too late to learn on your own. Without that drive and knowledge, some of my accomplishments probably would've never happened.. The six of us being honored have our painted portraits up at six different hotels at the riverwalk. Mine is at the St. Anthony Hotel. @hennessyus has created a cocktail in each of our honors. Mine is The Bella Mule. I was asked what I like to drink, and generally, if I'm gonna have a cocktail, my go-to is a ginger beer and Whiskey, so they created a refreshing drink with their Cognac. If I'm gonna get accolades, I think this is the fun way to do it. Have your portrait up for about fifteen days and a cocktail to go with it! This week marks our OFFICIAL 10th year as a NO COST on-campus after-school music program in underserved schools, removing any financial barriers that may keep youth from learning to play music! 🖤⚡️🎶🎉 Personal statement: For the past ten years, I have been the CEO and Program Director of High Voltage Music, Inc. Being the founder is something that I don't take lightly because of the responsibility I have to our students, parents, funders, and facilities. I am extremely lucky to have made friends since my younger years with so many musicians and artists whom I am still good friends with (along with private and corporate funders), who have all helped in making this program possible. THANK YOU on behalf of myself, our instructors, and our present and past students. With gratitude - Bell Solloa 💫 There are MANY people to thank for helping us get through our journey in all capacities. First, to my son for being the inspiration to initiate something our community lacked. What I started for him to meet like-minded musical peers quickly became for all youth.
