Hannah’s story is a reminder that the right leader can change the direction of someone’s career.

She started in a high school auto class because her mom told her she should know a little about cars before getting her license. She fell in love with the work, pursued an apprenticeship, and kept going through the moments when she questioned whether she belonged.

A huge part of her journey was her mentor, Mike Shay.

He showed up early.
Stayed late.
Worked weekends.
Answered questions.
And kept reminding Hannah that she was capable of becoming a great mechanic.

She earned her Red Seal.

Today, she is the only woman professor in her department, teaching apprenticeship and mechanical trades and passing forward what Mike once gave her. Feature Friday Hannah.pdf

After Mike passed away, Hannah founded The Shay Way in his honor, supporting people experiencing homelessness and addiction. Feature Friday Hannah.pdf

That is leadership.

Sometimes the impact is believing in someone long enough for them to start believing in themselves.

Thank you, Hannah, for sharing your story.

Real people. Real trades. Real work.

When one good thing ends, another begins. ❤️

That’s certainly how we feel about September 12 in Manotick.

Make a Saturday of it:

🚗 Shay Way Memorial Car Show
📍 The Mews
🕘 9 AM–2 PM

Held in memory of Michael “Mikey” Shay, a beloved Manotick mechanic, community member and car enthusiast.

Then, as the cars wrap up, head over for Taste of Manotick, happening from 2–6 PM with food, music, entertainment and plenty of harvest-season fun.

One day. Two great events. Plenty of reasons to spend your Saturday in Manotick.

Luv2Groove was so grateful to be back for a third year leading the pre-walk activation for The Coldest Night of the Year yesterday.

We had an absolute blast getting everyone up, moving, laughing, and connecting before the 5K & 2K walks. From fun icebreakers to high-energy moments, the sense of community was truly something special. ❄️✨

A huge thank you to Baker Tilly for bringing us back once again, and to the Ottawa Mission and the Shay Way Team for always going above and beyond in giving back to the community.

We are so proud to be part of a cause that brings people together with purpose. Already looking forward to next year 💛

Feel Good Friday hits different when strong women come together 💪✨

One automotive professor + activist.
One dance educator + business owner.
Different paths, same mission: show up, lift others, and move with purpose.

We shook off the cold, turned up the energy, and danced our way into Coldest Night of the Year this Saturday ❄️🔥💃

Huge shoutout to Baker Tilly Ottawa for sponsoring CNOY and inviting Luv2Groove to get the crowd moving—funky grooves, fun games, and all the feel-good energy before the walk 💙

Ms. Julia, Dance Educator from Luv2Groove , and Miss Hannah, Automotive Professor ➡️ The collab you didn’t know you needed. This year, Julia has joined Hannah’s team, The Shay Way. AND, Hannah’s team will be helping the L2G crew get everyone warmed up, and hyped, up for the walk! Team work makes the dream work 💭
