🦋🗝️⚜️ Putting away distractions and being present is hard, let’s admit. But in a little book called “The Art of Living,” Catholic philosopher Dietrich von Hildebrand has a simple message on what it takes to grow in virtue and live more truly.

📚 A couple months ago, @thegentlepursuit and I joined an online book club with the @hildebrand_project in which we read “The Art of Living.” The book had sat on my shelf for months, and reading it brought the realization that, for every man and woman, growing in virtue comes down to one important message:

💌 The true art of living = The art of truly loving.

And, the first key to living and loving well is…?

🗝️ The virtue of REVERENCE. What is it? The ability to quiet ourselves down enough to let reality speak to us. Being truly attentive requires souls that are steadfast . . . not flitting around like butterflies 🦋

Reverence allows us to deepen other important spiritual attitudes and virtues like:
⚜️Faithfulness
⚜️Responsibility
⚜️Truthfulness
⚜️Goodness

📚 Are you reading Hildebrand this summer? Or what’s a book that has transformed your view of what it means to live virtue, truth, goodness, and beauty? Please share in the comments!!
