FEED CHECK 🤌🏽

life has been kicking my behind and dragging me by my edges, but there’s still much to celebrate:

• my company @dnglyfe is the marketing distributor for the @forwardtimes and i released my fourth article with the Forward Times!

• i’m supporting all of my friends dreams: they’re getting married, building businesses, starting events, and the fact they ask me to be involved is such an honor.

• people keep coming up to me and saying they see me everywhere! 😭

i’ve already hosted one event this month and i’m involved with three afro tech partner events with @jemsocialapp , @choosytues and hosting a halloween party with @wavesonbrand this wednesday! 👻

it’s week 9 of the great lock-in, and even though it is 100% what i didn’t expect, the challenge is 100% needed!

event recommendations from dnglyfe for @afrotech.conference & halloween go live FIRST THING in the AM, so turn your notifications on and tap in with me, lovely humans! 🫂

sun yick food store.

i remember this spot as a kid. my dad was born and raised in that sweet spot between kashmere gardens and trinity/houston gardens, and back in the late 90s and early 2000s i’d come here often. i’ve seen the building painted so many different colors, shifting through different looks over the years. but some things never changed, like being able to grab candy, chips, and an icee or the ppl always posted outside on the side stoop, brown bags in hand, talking about everything and everyone.

it’s wild looking back at it now. places like this were more than corner stores. they were centers of community.

1111 westheimer

originally known as tower theatre. it was built in the 1930s as an art deco movie theater, and has since been a few different venue spaces over the decades. it’s currently being developed into a jazz club/restaurant and they’re keeping some of the original art deco infrastructure and decor too.

morning time in the heights. historic homes, paths lined with wonky trees. storybook gazebos, and old building libraries. houston is so layered. so much architecture style.

there’s nothing better than a night at the theater 🎭

if you haven’t taken the time to explore houston’s theater district, then i would absolutely recommend changing that immediately and look into this season’s lineup of shows.

when i tell you the @alleytheatre ‘s production of agatha christie’s “the mirror crack’d” was so good, it had me on the edge of my seat!

i love a good murder mystery, and my love for the theater has never wavered.

from the set design, use of sound and music, practical effects, and outstanding acting form the cast, the time flies and you leave the play with so much satisfaction.

thank you @alleytheatre and @him.russ for having @dnglyfe and i for this incredible production.

we’re so excited to be back for another one, and have a few curated experiences up our sleeve on how we can get the community involved for the next one. 👀

want to keep up with dope events happening in houston and the amazing creatives who produce them? follow @dnglyfe for more 🤘🏽
