Last night was one of those evenings we’ll be talking about for years to come. To celebrate 200 years of Glendronach, TWL had the incredible privilege of hosting an intimate dinner with Dr Rachel Barrie, bringing together 50 whisky lovers for a sold-out evening unlike any other. Our tasting journey spanned eight remarkable whiskies, from the classic 12 Year Old through to the magnificent 30 Year Old and the brand new 40 Year Old. Together, the ages of every vintage totalled 200 years in honour of this incredible milestone. We also enjoyed three single casks including 28yo 1994, a 28yo 1993 and a 29yo 1993. All very special drams. One of the night’s biggest surprises? Dr Barrie revealed that not only was this the first tasting of the new Glendronach 40 Year Old in Australia, but even more remarkably, it was the first time Glendronach themselves (including Dr Barrie) had ever hosted a tasting where the combined ages of the whiskies added up to exactly 200 years. A truly once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Guests were welcomed with a Glendronach Spanish Highball before enjoying a beautifully curated three-course dinner at Grana. To finish, Hinchcliff House’s outstanding tiramisu was paired with a very special surprise: a ninth dram personally carried over by Dr Barrie, a hand-filled Glendronach 15 Year Old PX Cask Strength, straight from the distillery. Safe to say... this is a serious contender for Whisky Tasting of the Year 2026. A huge thank you to Dr Rachel Barrie and everyone at Glendronach Australia for making the journey Down Under and helping us celebrate such an important milestone in Sydney.
