See you Sunday 10/18 at the Arts Walk! 🎨
@lorakelleylettering (aka Profesora Malerbi) will be hand painting and personalizing artwork and wooden disc ornaments on site, and selling the beautiful woodwork, textiles, and ceramics generously hand crafted AND donated by HPS staff Mr. Malerbi, Mr. Spartos, Ms. Papuga, Ms. Beischel, Ms. Achille, as well as student artwork.

WHY are your teachers donating such incredible crafts? To help YOU, our STUDENTS, go on field trips like Model UN, NYC 🎶 🎭 France 🇫🇷 Italy 🇮🇹 and more!!

☠️ we got so many eggs, jaja!
🫒 Aceituna- Not tuna, 🍣 (atún) there were so many fish drawn today, too 😂

Today in Spanish 1, students drew a dessert or food based on a description I said out loud. It was wicked funny.

Of course, not all of us have tried (or even seen) all of these foods firsthand, and students were relying on their vast knowledge of food vocabulary (way beyond ingredients they can describe taste, temperature, flavors, cooking methods, dish presentation, meal time, etc). Students tried so hard to be precise based off of my somewhat misleading descriptions which made it even better. We did about 8 dishes and the results varied with which ones each of our students have been exposed to in the culinary world.

👨‍🍳 We discussed how to make some of these dishes at home and where we can find these already prepared postres locally at our grocery stores.

My favorite part was hearing students say what they or their family believed an item to be (masa, torta, buñuelo) and being able to tell them that they are all correct, there are multiple names for items, just like in English.

We also discussed the true origins of some dishes, like baklava, or batlawa in Arabic. Is it Greek? Is it Lebanese? Armenian? Turkish? Votes are still being accepted below 😂

A quick (analog/No tech) activity to synthesize a whole lot of vocabulary became a memorable class, for sure. 🍽️ ¡estoy super orgullosa de todos mis artistas!

September means back to school and that was the perfect time to put Rex Chen on the cover of @greethingham Rex is a junior at Hingham High School whose entrepreneurial spirit has resulted in a clothing company and an efforts to give back to those in need. I enjoyed meeting and photographing Rex. His story will give you hope for the future! Read about Rex in the September issue.

Hingham high school cheerleaders Cora and Ira are doing my DMD Challenge at the 50th Tolman MDA Telethon!😊💚 #MikesDMDChallenge

Would anyone want to do my Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness challenge? Everyone is invited to participate! It would really mean a lot for you all to do a video of this to help it go viral. Whether you do it at home or if you want to stop by and do it.

All you have to do is sit in a chair, film yourself putting your feet into a tub (or bowl, pan, etc.) of shaving cream, and post the video on social media like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or any other platform. You can also choose to donate to the JETT Foundation(Link below) or do both. Then, tag your friends to do the same, preferably within 3 days or as soon as possible. Since it’s slippery, please sit down when you do the challenge, as I don't want anyone falling.

The reason for using shaving cream in this challenge is because I designed it to be accessible and inclusive, allowing anyone, including individuals with disabilities like myself, to participate with a bit of assistance if needed. Unlike other challenges that might require specialized equipment or be uncomfortable for those of us with temperature sensitivity, the shaving cream challenge is easy and enjoyable for everyone to take part in. It also provides a unique and pleasant sensory experience!

A, B and G block students ⭐️ standing with our @obeygiant prints and original FIFA world cup jersey designs after learning about the many forms of street art.

For los jerseys de la Copa Mundial, students were given a prompt that they’ve been “hired by FIFA” to make an original design supporting their favorite country AND could use their jerseys as a platform to support a cause that they think deserves worldwide attention. Take a look at this awesome list of just a few of the things they supported:
The environment
Human rights
Homeless people
Access to art supplies
Animal shelters
Promoting self expression
Mental health of athletes
Mental health of children
Veterans

(And there were 40 more shown in the previous post!)

Their Spanish descriptions of the symbolism of each element on their jersey were thorough and deeply reflective. I’m so proud.

In the street art unit, we debated whether graffiti is art or vandalism and the factors that go into our decisions. We pondered other forms as art and researched new (to us) mediums and artists. Always my favorite way to end the year, especially this year because I announced that our field trip to NEW YORK CITY 🍎 @graffitihalloffame_nyc is actually happening - April 2027!! DM me for more info and click the link in my bio to enroll.

TJ (Belize ‘25), Claire, and Anna (Peru ‘26) wrote beautiful poetry and short stories in the @hinghamhighschool publication “The Outer Limits”.

I’ve shared @claireee.wang Claire’s poem here, titled “Peru, el Sueño” which brought me right back to being surrounded by the wonder that is Peru.

Claire, class of ‘29, speaks Chinese, French and Latin. We’re excited to see more of her success as she continues her career with us at HHS!@hingham.world.language @hinghampublicschools

@acfennelly Congratulations to Ms. Fennelly on another beautiful publication and for giving students the space to share these pieces of themselves.

If you snag a copy of the publication, check out “Tag, You’re It” @annapostyy and “The Soldier’s Ride” therealtjmeade both recent 2026 graduates and travel alumni. 🌎 ✍️
