![Updated weekly, SHAPE introduces and highlights a variety of current public events and exhibitions throughout the city.
This week's highlights include four exhibitions:
📅 Opening on Oct 1 at @galerieanhava is the group exhibition 'A Scene from an Untold Tale' by Icelandic artists Loji Höskuldsson and Helga Páley Friðþjófsdóttir and Finnish artist Milja Havas. Working primarily in different mediums—embroidery, painting and sculpture—the artists share a focus on storytelling. The exhibited works are inspired by books, games, folk tales and fantasies, referencing both familiar everyday moments and nostalgic memories.
📅 The group exhibition 'Today I practiced how to draw fire / convex, moth, grayscales, in the punctures, sun-faded, cycles' by Essi Immonen, Anna-Stiina Korhonen, and Eeva-Maija Pulkkinen opens on Oct 3 at @oksasenkatu11. The exhibition is a result of Oksasenkatu 11’s open call focused on collaboration. The artists have spent a year reflecting on the nature and possibilities of cooperation, developing the exhibition together through a shared process. The exhibition unites disparate details of three lives. It contains flashes from three realities—images and forms—that, when combined in the same space, generate strange and unique associations.
📅 On display at @hippolytegallery until 11th Oct is Elina Vainio's 'Memory Palace'. In Vainio's experimental practice, artistic thinking occurs through the properties and particularities of the medium and method employed. In the exhibition, beeswax forms the surface of a serial work, leaving both what it binds and what it protects subject to change. 📅 In Aleksi Martikainen’s 'Luonnos maisemasta – Landscape study' at @sportshallwindow, we can observe a landscape moving and shifting around the still horizon. Martikainen’s works are often inspired by nature and a longing to recreate moments of tranquillity found within it. In seeking out this sense of calm, Martikainen focuses deliberately on making the movements of his kinetic sculptures subtle. The result holds both tension and stillness.](https://s3.imginn.com/829098527_18036222815846442_7134357958399398622_n.webp?t51.82787-15/829098527_18036222815846442_7134357958399398622_n.webp?stp=dst-webp_p828x828&_nc_cat=111&ig_cache_key=Mzk5NzY1MjY1ODMyMTM1NTc1Nw%3D%3D.3-ccb7-5&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=58cdad&efg=eyJ2ZW5jb2RlX3RhZyI6IkNBUk9VU0VMX0lURU0ueHBpZHMuMTA4MC5zZHIucmVndWxhcl9waG90by5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=p2EZOYlJt8YQ7kNvwE6cjvY&_nc_oc=Adpe_nJ6-RKFFPGgoeNqldYgNE1__7WVDvDRWPMvGq3RR3fbKwzyXe8bxe39do137MiA_hyTZomDFtvGHDZuZwEO&_nc_ad=z-m&_nc_cid=0&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-sjc3-1.cdninstagram.com&_nc_gid=rYtax7u-93Q4pcLVMbVMCQ&_nc_ss=7a20f&oh=00_AQMAG7eHbtgt-68tuNamgm02ZD3FBkQGj3ZbF4aMw_Cxig&oe=6AE09D05)
