There have been a few drivers in the Group C era that were lucky enough to drive for multiple manufacturers and thus enjoying multiple sports cars. One of them is Kenny Acheson who is better known for winning the 1989 Brands Hatch 1000km and finishing runner-up at Le Mans that year.

During his sports cars racing career he drove the TOM 85C and 86C, Porsche 956 and 962, Sauber C9 in 1989 winning several races, the Nissan R90CK, Jaguar XJR-12, 14 and 15, an Eagle Mk III and even the Toyota TS010, earning podiums with most models he raced with.

He has most recently driven his C9 at Brands Hatch for a Group C demo. It's not actually the race-winning chassis but a spare one that's fully functional.

Back in august at the end of the Belmot Oldtimer, i was hoping to see this beauty soon again.
Here we are, in one of my favourite places: Imola Circuit, for the last @peterauto event of the year, the #ImolaClassic

For those who haven’t seen the previous post: It is one of the latest 962 produced, with the mighty 6 cylinders boxer 3.2 litres, a double KKK turbocompressor for something like 750hp.
Realized in 1990 for Jochen Dauer Racing, raced in 1991 by the Andretti family at the 24h of Daytona, then converted in one of the rarest Dauer 962 LM road version, then reacquired and rebuilded ad racecar.

It’s been a pleasure to see you again, next time i hope to get even closer

THE CATS ARE COMING TO THE MEMBERS' MEETING!

The cat's out of the bag! After a Jaguar XJR-11 was spotted inside the Earl's Court Motor Show at Goodwood Revival now we know the reason for it - THE 84th Members' Meeting will see TWR as its main protagonist!

This comes as the 40th anniversary of Jaguar's World Sports-Prototype Championship title from 1987 and its repeat in 1988 after the British manufacturer returned to top class endurance racing after almost 30 years of absence.

And given the 50th anniversary of TWR celebrated at @bicestermotion in January, we have a good idea of the cars we expect to see at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in April 2027: all XJR models from XJR-6 to XJR-14 plus possibly the XJR-15, XJ220, the TWR BTCC cars and even the Transit TWR if lucky enough!

I cannot wait to see them on the track!

UK'S GROUP C TOYOTAS

TOM'S GB was a short-lived branch of of the Japanese aftermarket company that focused on the F3, SWC and BTCC efforts before being sold off to VW in 1998. Despite that, they didn't build any of the TOM'S Group C race cars of the time and some of those were built before the expansion in 1987. Even so, there are at least three of those cars in the UK.

The Taka-Q 88C was newly built for the 1988 season and competed at Le Mans and overseas in the IMSA GTP series wearing the AAR colors. Despite that, it has a chassis number starting with 87C. Also it was driven by Paolo Barilla. 1985 LM winner and current Barilla Deputy Chairman (the pasta guys I mean).

The Leyton House 86C is more known for its colors than its palmarès as there are no clear sources of which chassis did what primarily because TOM'S themselves did not record chassis numbers back in the days! Same can be said about the white 86C that was sold at the 2022 Artcurial Motorcars auction at Le Mans Classic. This last one is the only one competing in historic racing but last time it did that it only got a pair of laps done before a malfunction.

Would be great to have a GT500 Supra as well on the island, right @duncanhamiltonrofgo ?

Historic Motorsport. So much better than a car show or museum to photograph and be around classic racing cars (and aircraft too). Access is often excellent, the noise event better and the metal is so exciting you will come away with so many shots top be proud of. I loved taking and editing these, the Spitfire flying over was a welcome if unexpected addition to the day. All shots are available as prints.

The engine is a 90-degree V8, derived from the family of road-going engines developed by Maranello between the 1980s and 1990s (conceptually related to the Ferrari 308, 328, and the subsequent 348 series). Depending on the mapping and historical restrictions, the V8 produced between 425 and 450 horsepower, with power sent to the rear wheels via a Hewland manual gearbox. I have to thank my friend and Youtuber ‪@ste19bozzy92 with whom I collaborated to realize this video. Enjoy! 😉

Toyota 90C-V 05 Taka Q driven by Aguri Suzuki, Roberto Ravaglia and Jonny Dumfries. Qualified 14th DNF big accident after a collision with the leading Nissan with Aguri Suzuki at the wheel.

Managed to get the description wrong on original post but thanks to @historicgroupc it’s now amended…
