Through the Lens | Karin Pasterer A photographer doesn't simply document a space. They decide how it will be experienced by someone who has never visited it. Curved walls, natural materials and changing perspectives establish the rhythm of this interior. Rather than presenting the entire room at once, the photograph invites the eye to move through it, revealing the architecture gradually. This is one of the reasons specialist architectural photographers play such an important role. They understand that the success of an image often lies in what it chooses not to show. Some of the most important decisions in architecture are often the least conspicuous. A door is rarely considered a focal point, yet its proportions, profile, material and hardware can influence how an entire interior is perceived. When the choices are right, nothing feels out of place. The space reads as one complete idea. In this project by @hkollektive for @stiegnhaus , the arched form softens the verticality of the timber surface, while the TENSE hardware series by @bertrambeerbaum for @formani_doorware creates a quiet dialogue between geometry, texture and scale. Nothing feels added for effect. Every element belongs to the same visual language. Achieving this level of cohesion requires more than selecting beautiful products. It comes from understanding how forms, materials and details relate to one another, and from working with manufacturers whose products are designed to endure both visually and physically over time. As a visual strategist, these are the details I am drawn to. Not because they demand attention, but because they reveal the thinking behind a project. The shape of a doorway, the weight of a handle, the way materials meet. Small decisions that quietly elevate the experience of a space. Visual strategy is about the dialogue between lines and light. As a Brand Director, I am constantly looking for those who can translate architectural soul into a visual narrative. In this project for @stiegnhaus, photographer @bykarinpasterer has done an exceptional job capturing the precise, flowing geometry that defines the space. Notice how her lens treats the architectural lines not just as structure, but as a path for the eye to follow. It perfectly mirrors the design language of @hkollektive—an architecture of restraint and material honesty. If you love 'Quiet Luxury' done right, you must explore the work of these visionaries and visit the stunning stieg’nhaus boutique hotel, nestled in the heart of the Austrian Alps. It is a masterclass in modern Alpine elegance. Through the Lens | Karin Pasterer Architectural photography begins long before the shutter is pressed. It starts with understanding what the architect wants the building to communicate. In this project, doors are treated as part of the architectural language rather than separate elements. The arched entrance, softly milled grooves, concealed wallpaper doors and carefully selected hardware create a sequence where every transition feels considered. Capturing these details requires more than technical precision. It requires the ability to recognise which moments deserve to lead the narrative. Wanna know what I’m actually thinking about when I shoot a hotel? 👀 Here’s my shotlist — the stuff I make sure I get every single time, no matter the property: exterior, rooms, the little details, bathroom, restaurant. Miss one of these and the gallery just feels... incomplete. some quick tips while we’re at it: → don’t just wide-angle the room and call it a day, find the perfect angle → details are everywhere if you train your eye to see them → yes guests genuinely care about the bathroom shots → show where people start and end their day, it matters part 1 of probably a few of these 🤍 save it if you shoot hotels or interiors too — by the way: this exceptional aesthetic architecture is made by @hkollektive 🫶🏻 #hotelphotography #interiorphotography #shotlist #hospitalitydesign #photographytips

Architecture is never only about form. It is about how materials, light, atmosphere and function quietly work together to shape the way a space is experienced. This interior by @hkollektive reflects that kind of precision. Every surface, texture and detail feels carefully considered, not to impress loudly, but to create a sense of calm continuity throughout the project. The Gessi details become part of the architecture itself, integrated with the same clarity and discipline that defines the entire space. Awarded by the BIG SEE Architecture Awards, Carolyn Sarah Herzog approaches design with a sensitivity that goes far beyond drawings alone. You can feel an attention to proportion, tactility and human experience in every decision, from the stone textures to the restrained palette and refined material transitions. Karin’s photography captures this beautifully. The framing and natural light reveal the softness of the materials while preserving the honesty of the space, allowing the interior to feel lived-in, tactile and architectural at the same time.
