I’ve really been enjoying this new app! @mattcardinal developed it after David Hockney died a few months ago in homage to his amazing collages and way of looking at space. I highly recommend the app if you want to play with how you are seeing and experiencing what’s in front of you and not just believing that a single image can capture reality.

And now, Dolly Parton.
We’ve been lucky to film a whole lot in Tennessee. One thing that every crew member has is a great Dolly story. Sound guys that have to mic her: ‘just get in there, they don’t bite.’ Wardrobe sharing the names of her wigs and a DP who apologized that she had to sit on an apple box, ‘oh honey I sit on a box every day.’ She made everyone feel good.

My brush with Dolly came in a narrow hallway at WNYC. We were promoting the NY premiere of Man on a Mission and Richard Garriott and I were waiting to be ushered into a radio interview. I was already stupid nervous when Dolly Parton steps out?!? I mentioned the hallway was tight right? As she squeezed by a grinning Richard we were face to face. I put my hand out and said I can’t believe I have to go on after Dolly Parton. She chuckled, took my hand, guided me past her said, ‘oh sweetie you gonna do just fine.’ God damn that was awesome.

Austin! It’s real hot! But @preachergallery has cold cocktails, industrial A/C, and such an amazing art show opening TONIGHT from 6-9PM.

We’re so honored to open our doors for BLUR - a collection that brings together the work of seven truly incredible women. All artists whose voices are unmistakably their own, and whose work reminds us why we love doing what we do.

Each creator comes to this exhibition from a different place, with a different way of seeing and making. From Han Cao’s Banned Book Series, Diana SuDyka’s Endangered Species on vintage envelopes, and Mel Kadel’s whimsical characters to Jana Swec’s vibrant landscapes, Emily Geirnaert’s stark collages, Abi Daniel’s rich still lifes, and Marcella Colavecchio’s colorful contemporary scenes, these works wander through memory, nature, identity, storytelling, emotion, and imagination. Together, they create a conversation that feels deeply personal and alive.

We hope you’ll join us tonight an evening of art, celebration, community, conversation and music from DJ HEY MOON.

You don’t want to miss this gathering of exceptional contemporary artists. All welcome all ways!

Abi Daniel is a Texas-born artist based in Austin who creates meticulous, Flemish-inspired still life paintings. Before a brush ever touches the surface, she carefully builds and lights each composition by hand, creating a small world inside a simple cardboard box.

These arrangements become deeply personal symbols, where everyday objects stand in for memories and emotions. Painted over the course of several years, each work is built through countless layers of oil paint, balancing soft, disappearing edges with moments of striking clarity. Abi’s paintings invite viewers to slow down, notice the light, and spend time with the stories hidden in everyday objects.
