Be honest with yourself, what’s holding you back from sharing your work/art/story? @ccfierce recognized she wasn’t as active sharing workouts or content for @holisticallydope because of not being where she thought she should be. What’s holding you back? 💜🙏🏽✨🛋️

I became a personal trainer in 2012 after I had been on a journey to improve my own mental and physical health and realized how much I loved helping people on theirs. I wanted to help create accessibility to movement, knowledge, and helping people feel good in their bodies. Taking care of ourselves isn’t something we are raised to do, quite the opposite actually.

In 2017 when I graduated from USC, I launched my own program for girls to introduce holistic health and wellness to them and help them build a strong foundation for these practices in their lives. Shortly after, I began working with @changethetune to help build revolutionary outside of school programming to help support our youth and close the equity gap in education and education opportunities. And we still going!

So blessed & grateful to be doing what I love and sharing movement, mindfulness, social emotional learning, leadership, entrepreneurship and life skills. #gratitude #selflove #selfcare

When I first started with @changethetune I was teaching yoga, mindfulness, & breath work to our summer camp and after school programs and trying to figure out what it looks like to integrate holistic health and wellness into a daily curriculum in a meaningful way.

What would it look like for students to learn about mindfulness in an inclusive environment?

How can we bring physical movement into the classroom in a fun way that encourages them outside of the classroom too?

How do we help build sustainable habits that can reverberate in their families and in the community?

6 years, a collective 9+ summer camps, and numerous after school programs later I think we’ve created a working model 😁🙏🏽

One of my favorite moments of camp was years later a student reached out (while in college) and told me the practices they learned in camp have helped them to stay grounded and learn to be okay when life gets really stressful. So today I sit in gratitude and the shadow of some trees planted years ago.
Learning the balance of enjoying the present moment, being grateful for it and the past, and luxuriating in my optimism for the future. 💜🙏🏽✨ Woman teaching mindfulness to a group of high school students in a circle in a sunny courtyard at USC
