Small moments shape hearts.
🌿🕷️
Whether it’s a spider, a beetle, or a buzzing bee, our gentle choices teach our children respect for all creatures; and that courage can be kind.

Nature study plays a crucial role in nurturing the whole child - fostering a sense of wonder, curiosity, and appreciation for the natural world.

Charlotte Mason outlined the following benefits:

Observation Skills:
Nature study encourages children to observe closely the intricate details of the natural world, developing their powers of observation.

Connection with Nature:
By spending time out of doors and engaging with nature firsthand, children develop a deep and meaningful connection with the natural world around them.

Appreciation for Beauty:
Through nature study, children learn to appreciate the beauty of our world, from the delicate petals of a flower to the majestic expanse of the sky.

Scientific Understanding:
Nature study provides opportunities for children to learn about scientific concepts in a hands-on and experiential manner, fostering curiosity, a love for learning, and laying firm foundations for later scientific study.

Physical and Mental Well-being:
Spending time in nature has been shown to have numerous health benefits, including reducing stress, improving mood, and promoting physical activity.

Character Development:
Nature study encourages qualities such as patience, perseverance, and respect for all living things, nurturing the development of character, and moral values.

And of course, time in nature is a balm and a joy just in its own right.

Happy exploring!
