𝐌𝐲 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐞.

I applied for the 2024/2025 grant cycle of Nigeria Youth Futures Fund NYFF @ng_youthfund . Months later, my application was rejected. On the first day of DARE Conference 2025 by @youthhubafrica saw a post on social media for an opportunity to pitch and win the NYFF grant.

I prepared my application and showed up the next day at the event ready to pitch. Few months later, My solution emerged as a top 10 solution. As a result, I made it into the LEAP Africa Social Innovation Programme. This is a full-circle moment and I will be back to share the story.

Success requires a healthy sense of self-belief, or should I say a 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒖𝒍𝒖. Your application was rejected and your application can get selected where it was rejected.

🥂 to becoming a 2-time NYFF grantee!
Cry, buy ice-cream and keep applying!

After the Enactus World Cup in 2019, I took up a business development role on the team. In attempts to raise capital for the PETCITY projects. I learnt a lot about rejection, fundraising, and opportunities.

The availability of opportunities created a mindset shift that they were accessible and I could get them. Among the numerous things I learnt, I discovered opportunities were chasing me.

They were constantly in my line of sight. Over the past years, I have created 3 different communities to share specific types of opportunities. Recently, I noticed something. More global opportunities keep appearing on my radar from global organisation. I did not know existed, and I was not following.

So, when I launch a new project, sign an MoU or partner on an initiative, it often times involves taking a big risk and serving as a bridge between the opportunities and those who need them the most, young people.

I can't assure you of sudden success, but in failing forward, trying new things and submitting an application, you increase your luck to achieve your dreams, make an impact, and create a sustainable future.
