"I dont want to know if you aree lonelyyy" 😝🎶🔥

#nowspinning Hüsker Dü's 5th album "Candy Apple Grey" (1986) Original Pressing 🤘🤘🤘

Heyy #vinylcommunity I must be going through something because yesterday I felt so down low I couldn't even get out of bed I was so bummed out.. Today however I'm amped up and super happy! Who knows man 😅 anyways over the weekend I met up with a seller from @discogs I saw that he was from St.Paul Minnesota which is only 15 minutes from me so I shot him a message asking if he'd take cash and to my surprise he was down to meet up! I was only going to buy a Slim Dunlap record (The Replacements 2nd Guitarist) but he came with a whole bunch of good stuff. Including this almost mint copy of one of the Twin-Cities best punk groups Hüsker Dü 😎

This album finds the band at a transitional point, it's their first record on a major label having signed from SST an Indie label from California, to Warner Bros. doing so would have Hüsker sand down their rough edges from abrasive punky hard rock to a more alternative sound. It also finds them working more with acoustic guitars like on the song "Too Far Gone" theres even some synth on the tracks "Hardly Getting Over It" & "No Promise Have I Made" which adds some nice texture 🔥🎶

The tracks flip-flop between the two writers Bob Mould & Grant Hart, with the latter writing some of the groups most accessible radio friendly tracks in "Dont Want to Know If You Are Lonely" & "Sorry Somehow" both songs I've grown to love when I hear them on the radio, they'd also get some time on MTV.

Even with the exposure though this album would only chart at 140 on Billboards top 200

I know the hard-core punk fanbase were upset with this release but over the years this thing has gotten better and better, there's some seriously great stuff on here! 🤘🔥

Also the cover art was done by Daniel Corrigan it's eight layers of broken glass lit up by 12 different lights. You can hear the glass crashing on the first track "Crystal" which is also the only hard-core punk song on the album a sorta nod to their past
