⭐ SUZI RECOMMENDED ⭐

Five nurses. $3 million. One outrageous scandal.

Other Paths to God, the funny, poignant and deliciously scandalous new dramedy by Kelundra Smith, follows five resilient Atlanta healthcare workers whose paths to healing and redemption are anything but straightforward.

Directed by Alexis Kulani Woodard and inspired by interviews with real Atlanta nurses, the play is a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere.

See it now at Horizon Theatre—onstage through November 8. Get your tickets at horizontheatre.com.

Another memorable Opening Press Night at @horizontheatre, and was thrilled to share it with @acpence & @tonyrod08! ❤️

Atlanta playwright @anotherpieceofkay delivers a wonderfully layered, thought-provoking dramedy with Other Paths to God, directed by @ak__woodard .

Inspired by conversations with real Atlanta nurses, the story follows five ICU healthcare professionals whose already demanding lives become increasingly complicated when money goes missing and suspicion falls upon their department. What unfolds is an entertaining combination of workplace chaos, unexpected humor, personal struggles, and poignant revelations.

What I particularly appreciated about Smith’s writing is her ability to explore profound human experiences without sacrificing the wit and unpredictability that make these characters so engaging.

From a theatrical standpoint, the ensemble’s chemistry is especially noteworthy. The performers navigate rapid shifts between comedy and vulnerability with impressive authenticity. Their conversational rhythms, comedic timing, and nuanced characterizations create a believable sense of shared history.

Beneath the scandal and laughter lies something far more meaningful: Who takes care of the people who spend their lives taking care of everyone else?

The play offers a touching reminder that our worth extends beyond our productivity, that even the strongest individuals need compassion, and that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It also explores the importance of extending grace, resisting assumptions about others, and recognizing that healing rarely follows a predictable course.

Perhaps my favorite takeaway is that we can be imperfect, uncertain, and still deserving of understanding, connection, and a fresh beginning.

My sincere thanks to Horizon Theatre for continuing to welcome me back as an Influencer and for the tickets. I treasure these Opening Press Nights and the opportunity to experience such distinctive storytelling within Atlanta’s theatre community!

Gratitude to everyone involved! ❤️🎭
