POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Come get sBOOKy with us this month! 😈 Stories can transform ourselves and our society, stories can challenge us to think differently, and stories can help us feel less alone. Nationally, queer adults experience houselessness at more than the double the rate of the general population & 40% of houseless youth identify as LGBTQ+. It's important to us that our queer patrons see themselves reflected in our library selection, and that all of our patrons have access to a diversity of stories. Speaking of stories: We are so excited to have the icon Genevieve Hudson back with us, Portland hometown heroine Emme Lund, and hailing all the way from Florida: body horror queen Kayla Upadhyaya & comedic genius Kristen Arnett. We'll be raffling off $150 tattoo vouchers for each of the artists at @third_space___, a bundle from @seagrapeapothecary, handbuilt 1 of 1 mugs, handpoured candles, and so much more. Big thanks to @tin_house & @bishopandwilde for their support. Be sure to check out Tin House Workshop's trans writers scholarships and residency opportunities! We love gay books!! Ok bye see you soon! 👻

i asked carson terry to make some dreidels as a romantic holiday gift - dense and heavy, packed like jewelry, each piece irregular and one of a kind. they’ve translated the kind-of-functional, kind-of-not-functional-at-all nature of terry’s work to an old and nostalgic form. these are real treasures, i love them so much! they are on our site 😇 photos by @davidkitz

Carson Terry and Ralph Pugay, created a clothing brand project focused on quality used clothing by way of radical artistic envisioning and following their hearts. They’re called Sherbert! They like combining their alchemical energies to manifest sustainable splendor fueled by their repressed urges. Note: they will be featuring a selection of special edition used underwear. Wanna talk about misogyny? This is a banger, if I do say so myself, courtesy of insights from @crowlandscapes & @hossly Published on Oregon ArtsWatch with photos by mwah. Link in bio. APRIL 19, 2023 | HANNAH KRAFCIK CULTURE, GENDER DECONSTRUCTION" followed by a spliced photo of Carson pointing to an iron wall hanging he made on the left and Crow holding up handfuls of soil on the right. Their faces are not in frame. Slides 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10) excerpts of text from the aforementioned article in slide 1 Slide 3) Crow standing in front of shrubs and trees, smiling slightly. They are wearing a gardening belt, a denim top, and maroon pants. Slide 5) Carson standing in a room full of various metal objects he fabricated. This is his exhibition, "44 Pieces of Furniture" at Lowell Slide 7) Crow smiling while holding their hand up to a shrub called oemleria cerasiformis, which is native to the Pacific Northwest Slide 9) a set of metal utensils with ornate, curly tops of their handles, hanging in a rectangular fixture, all fabricated by Carson Title of a story "Gender deconstruction in the trades: Subverting the status quo Landscape designer Crow Lauren and metalworker Carson Terry discuss their trades. Last Sunday, we hosted an incredible dinner organized by Karen Lee and Tom Bonamici. For the better part of the past year, they kept showing up with kindness and hard work to see their vision through and bring a community of makers together. It was inspiring in so many ways to be part of this project and to celebrate at the end with a perfect meal (prepared by @elbowscatering with bread by @wanderingseedsbakery & wine by @erwineshop) and shared in the gallery. I truly hope this was just the first of many future gatherings centered around food, art, and performance! Everything used for the evening was handmade for the occasion. Guests got to take their sets home, including forged steel spoon/sticks by @hossly, handwoven napkins by @bodegadog, hand dipped candles by @saraiblackart, terracotta dinnerware by @parshagerayesh, wood fired bowls by @pleasant_hill_pottery, pine stools by @tombonamici (Tom also made the four tables), slip cast cups by @primaryceramicstudio, and blown glass wine glasses by @matthewabadi. We’re thrilled to present a full set table in our newly reopened Backroom Gallery through March 19, 2023. Most of the objects are available to order, please DM for all inquiries. Thank you to @onrymusic for a haunting a cappella opener, @goodsilence for the perfectly calligraphed menus, @simonefischerr for the beautiful documentation, and to all our guests for supporting this wild idea 🕯️
