↝ A little recap of our last public activity: decolonizing our creative practice. @farahfromhouse9 from @house9design came to share with us her way of doing “business” and what she’s trying to build with House9. Trying to create an alternative to what working in creativity can look like for herself but also for her colleagues and the people she works with. ↝ House9 has some pretty radical and clear values and now they’re trying to grow within the reality of the Western world. Which, obviously, comes with its own challenges. It was a very critical but also challenging workshop because Farah really showed us that there ARE alternatives. That we can do things differently. That we can imagine other ways of working, creating and collaborating and DOING. ↝ But you need to take the time to stop and reflect. To ask yourself why you’re doing things the way you’re doing them. And to actually imagine something else. And I liked that she was also very honest about the fact that it’s not easy at all and that she’s still learning and figuring things out herself. I’m really happy that we got to have our last public activity with her. She is definitely coming back next year 🤷🏾‍♀️ ↝ I really think everyone working in the creative field should start thinking more about different ways of creating especially when we’re working for clients or with people whose values we might not always see eye to eye with 🫠 ↝ And in this day and age, I also think this is something we need to share with youth. And that’s basically why @lemarathoncreatif exists. To try to facilitate access to alternatives for young people. To show them that the way things are done right now is not necessarily the only way they can be done.Anywayyyy, very happy about this workshop. Merci Farah and merci to everyone who came 🏁 Kudos if you read till here. Not your average director @byjoannache is behind this post 😂 Thanks to @yayaswrld.com_ for the video and @lazer.cobra for the pictures. Photos recap soon.

We opened the @torontobiennial last weekend and I could not be more proud. To be part of such an incredible project and a small, all-women team, and have the chance to work alongside some of the most talented, intelligent, and kind artists and collaborators is not lost on me. This project brought me back to Toronto from Amsterdam, and although the choice was incredibly difficult, boy, was it worth it ❤️ Things Fall Apart is on view across Toronto and beyond until December 20, 2026. Populated by mystical beings that oscillate between the organic and the mineral, the ephemeral and the immemorial, Shanie Tomassini’s exhibition “Solar Lamentation” opens a space suspended outside time, placed under the celestial guardianship of the sun and the shimmer of its rays. Tomassini’s sculptures are like offerings to the passage of time, celebrating the slow alchemy of things and heightening our awareness of the cycles of life.
